[ Answered ] Will Windows 11 24H2 be forced to be downloaded and install through Windows update?
I'm still using Windows 11 23H2 and I've been stalling to install in the last 2 months updates because I can't find what to install and I've read yesterday a newer version of Wind.11 got out and Microsoft will be forcing old operational system to formly have the newest version.

What to do with all of this happening?

I miss wind.7 support cycle...it held for 6 years. Why Microsoft shorter things out. Is such a waste of money for the consumer.

The feature upgrades are your new Service Packs. Even back in Windows 7 you had to install SP1 to get updates post 2013
Windows 10 as an OS released in 2015 and still is supported until 2025 for the general consumer and Windows 11 will be supported until like 2032

The lifecycle for a Windows release did remain the same, about 10 and half years for each version for the consumer

Yes, exactly. You couldn't get future updates without hitting a brick wall of having to download and install SP1 in order to update Win7 so it's WU could even see those other future updates. So I don't see why all the gripe today or in recent years regarding Feature Updates.

Like when Steam Client was working in older OS' they had to have been updated. Like Win7 SP1 not pre-SP1 Win7. Or had to be Win8.1, not 8.0

Since my copy of Windows 11 is pretty new, I probably don't have to worry about doing weird super complex updates thankfully.

This is just my opinion, but if you're concerned about the system doing something that you didn't direct it to do, then you should be considering switching over to Linux, because it doesn't perform any kind of update without permission from root. Whereas Windows by default will consistently try to automatically update the OS.

wrong, I run win 11 pro with ALL requirements bypassed and it boots every time.

I have also installed win 11 on old laptops from early 2000's and they boot just fine as well with ALL requirements bypassed.

also to mention, Microsoft supplies it's own registry bypass allowing minimum of tpm 1.2, though tpm is not needed at all.

I have countless PCs without TPM2 or SecureBoot and Win11 installed and runs everyday just fine. Some of them are old enough to not even have UEFI BIOS.

Cool and funny story though bro. You sound just like someone from Microsoft.

Yeah required out of the box, but can get around that requirement rather easy, I've been running it on a q6600 system with 8gb of DDR2 and a 8400gt, The only thing is, it wont get build updates until you make a brand new updated install with the bypass, I've been using Rufus, couple of clicks and it downloads and bypassed the TPM requirement and the account requirement, and it throws it onto bootable flash drive for me, and then you can manually upgrade to the newer build without loosing anything.

Bypassing the requirement is easy and the LTSC version doesn't even need it at all

Tho in your case. 24H2 won’t work on that system as SSE4.2/POPCNT is a required CPU feature with this build

anything from 2008 and up supports popcnt (sse4.2 for Intel and sse4.2a for amd).

Yeah but the q6600 supports up to sse4.1
First gen Core is the new minimum now. Just brought that up

Seen mixed results of it working on old C2D and quads, I'll try it myself, computer I don't really care much about, its got welding dust and paint fumes and you name, the fans sucked it in, used in my garage lol

my comment: the 23h2 and the update to 24h2 are forced on every windows 11 computer, because then microsoft has to work just with one kind of machines softwareside. it is too much work to support alle the versions of windows 11. the machines are similar with the updates running and this is it: less problems to solve for microsoft. if you know what i mean ?
just to mention.
cu
Well tomorrow start scheduled Wind. update and because of how unsure am I with comments given except for those were derailing the conversation regardless of the topic discussed.
I will skip for another month and maybe search on Microsoft forum and ask the right question.

Why would you even want Win11 on a Core2Duo or Core2Quad. Those use DDR2 and SATA2. Terrible.
