It's much better overall and won't require you to login. It still needs work though as it has yet to reach a point of being a 100% replacement for GFE and GPU CP
Again, when it's out of Beta, the new NVIDIA APP will replace GFE + Control Panel entirely and not require a login. This will allow GFE and CP settings all in one place and be more refined and not have those stupid delays we have in Control Panel and such all while allowing for everything GFE allows for, Recording, Instant Replay, OSD, etc
I don't get why a number of nVidia users are so scared of having drivers that are more capable so that they can drop the dozen other applications to cover for its shortcomings, and so that it doesn't look like it's out of the early 2000s.
Using AMD/Adrenalin was a wake up call to me; it showed me how bad nVidia actually is in features here. nVidia is so far ahead of AMD in many ways but this is ironically not one of them. The nVidia App should make this a lot better. Yeah, they chose the most generic 2010s+ name but oh well.
There's not really much wrong with the NVIDIA Drivers/software; the AMD stuff just looks more modern, woop-de-freaking-do.
Who gives a F if NVCP looks like Win95; the only difference between that and the AMD software is the "oh look at me, I'm so pretty look" from AMD
If something is functional, who cares about the fancy looks.
All these apps just want to make themselves LOOK like they are a natural part of Windows 10 & 11.
How does it make you lose FPS?
Just disable any OSD. You don't need that option on, which it probably is on by default.
For OSD stuff use MSI AB + RTSS
For just basic FPS counter can use the Steam Overlay or Xbox Gamebar if not using the above options.
Not to mention it is less resource intensive than GFE; granted it doesn't have all of the same feature set just yet.
No, the difference isn't just in looks. You either haven't used Adrenalin enough (or at all, thus why speak?), or you don't use things in a way where the extra features of Adrenalin matter to you (in which case, again, why speak?). The nVidia control panel isn't comparable to Adrenalin at all. The nVidia App, however, is much closer. It's an improvement, but I get it; some people are fearful of change, even if that change has benefits.
That's just it, it lacks some pretty nice functionality that I became more aware of after trying Adrenalin.
I find it wild how the same people who claim that nVidia is the better software company seem to turn around and not have any trust in nVidia's software changes. It seems silly to me to defend the need for a fractured software setup over, I don't know... having the choice between that fractured setup or just having the drivers do it. Choice is good, you know. So I don't get it. If you prefer those other applications, nothing is stopping you from still using them. Saying that the drivers can't improve because you're stubborn and afraid of change is just a failure to adapt.
Adrenalin doesn't even look all that great anyway. I'm not praising its looks simply because I'm saying the control panel has a very dated and out of place Windows XP appearance.
Here I agree with you. I think a lot of modern UI design is going in the wrong direction and I've made my opinion on that known on numerous occasions, so don't mistake me for someone who thinks modern UI is all perfect.
New apps often seem more about advertising and data collecting rather than actually providing a service.
I have no idea what the new NVIDIA app is like, but it's fair to say I am "wary" of it.
