7800x3d TEMPS
hi guys, first my system

7800x3d
7900XT
Asus Tuf b650 gaming plus wifi.
ddr5 6000mhz corsair dimm cl30
be quiet 850w
NZXT Kraken 360 Aio.#
Lian Li Lancool 216 case
Bios Updated last version

my "problem"

in Cinebench my Temps are going Instantly to 86*-88*c is this normal??

the plastic cover is removed.. i tried 3 different Thermal paste pattern. the "butter toast" a Line
and a drop in the middle. temps are same +- 1*c
using thermal grizzly hydronaut paste.

my friend have a 280mm Aio and reaches MAX 81*c with the same settings

my pump runs at 100%
Aio fans spins also 100% at 70*c

i have 2x 160mm fans INTAKE

the Aio is mounted on top with fans blowing out of the case

PBO curves are done 2best cores at negative 30, all other cores at negative 25
expo enabled.

somone have a solution?

or is it the thermal paste? should i use a Arctic Mx6 or noctua nt-h2?

what is your idle temp?
you can check youtube for average temps for your cpu...

make sure the pump speed is at 100% all of the time
set the rad fans to 0% at 60c and 100% at 80c

if the pump is stopped it takes time to start moving all the coolant in the loop

set them in bios, so they are applied at boot, and do not use software to change them

Not great temps but not too far from normal, the IHS on the 7x3D chips is thicker and has less surface area so they just run hot even though they’re very power efficient.

no these are bad temps....friend has a 7800x3d on a thermalright assassin and never goes over 72c with PBO on and no undervolt.....

Cinebench is not exactly good example of CPU gaming use, it`s designed to push the CPU to its limits and considering that those temps are within normal operating parameters and wont cause thermal throttling.

if the pump is really at 100% it should not instantly go above 80c
make sure its plugged into the correct header, or better to use a molex/sata power on it so nothing can change its speed from 100%

and make sure you removed the sticker from the bottom of the pump and used thermal paste

i think i found my problem guys.

only 1 of 3 fans at my aio ramps up to 100% (from what i hear and feel )

my AIO pump is connected to the AIO pump header. i have 1 Fan of the 3 connected to the CPU fan header, so i dont get the missing cpu fan error when start.
the other 2 fans are connected to the motherboards "fan 1 and fan 2 on the back of the mainboard.
do i need a splitter pwm cable so all 3 fans go into cpu fan header?

Didn`t the AIO come with the splitter cable?

i need to check it again...dont think so. its the NZXT 360 Kraken (no rgb no elite)

but that should fix my problem right?

Yeah. Also NZXT 360 fans should be daisy chainable.

no. i dont have a splitter cable. i checked all boxes i have
so i need to buy a splitter cable wehre all 3 fans will connect to the cpu fan header
_I_ Sep 2, 2024 @ 4:07pm
yea you need the fan splitter

https://www.amazon.com/GOUGAKYU-Splitter-Interesting-Inventions-hobbyists/dp/B0D9MTRBBF

note the fan connectors with missing pin will not report rpm, the header can only read the rpm/sense from one fan

Temps are too close to the limit for 7000X3D, it's right on the edge of throttling performance, keeping it below 80 while gaming would be ideal

Fix the fan issues, adjust fan curves if need be, and make sure that thermal paste was applied properly across the IHS
