What about latency and stability? I do not have the outdoors router but indoors with no antenna.
And when it comes to stability, both are wireless. You can't have perfect stability.
5G is more then enough for gaming, but without knowing what his network situation is or how saturated the environment it's impossible to tell what the issue is, especially seeing as it only happens in one game.

just be warned....you will need the right type of antenna for your country and region.....but putting up a real outdoor antenna even for a cell phone you want to tether will help with random ping spikes as you will have better signal not stop for 2 seconds as a car passes your home......
