highly recommend win11 pro..no need for anything other than a key you can install to a thumb drive if you really find in necessary.
And besides you can always use it freely unactivated anyways.
Doesn't matter how many times you changed hardware because you can always call MS and prove your legit license and have them activate it anyways. If you run into such a problem you tell MS the Motherboard died and you had no choice but to replace it. Simple
1. You are a student
2. You are a nonprofit employee
3. You are a security researcher or want to be one
In all three of these scenarios, it's likely you can get it for free. If you are a computer science student you can also get the builds that are NOT public depending on who you are and your IT department.
Second, it doesn't even sound like you need a new key if you're just upgrading the drive in your existing system. Just write down the old one and reuse it. It might even be tied to your motherboard if it was an O.E.M. key.
Plus you know, there's always the option of using the S.S.D. as a secondary or backup drive. If you don't have a spare m.2 on your drive, they make m.2 to P.C.I.E. risers.
That said, i was looking into things and win 12 sounds like it's just around the corner, so perhaps i will just grab that instead. I have multiple comps, and one is going off line, and a new one is around the corner.
The thing was before you had to install the old OS, then upgrade, but perhaps i can just grab 11 and install it strait now. If that's the case i may do that. I just want to do a refresh on the system as it's been 4 years.
