Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX
Hey all
Anyone have tried this sound card? I ordered after purchasing a Creative Sound Blaster Play!3, since is ok but doesn’t give emotions…
this USB sound card I will add to secondary PC (a nipogi N95) and install the FX for my new PC just assembled (which is good for my needs but has terrible audio).
I ordered this DAC for nostalgia name “FX” since my first GPU was a FX5600, my favourite AA is FXAA and my account on my most played game (Age of empires 3) finishes with “FX”.
Yeah I know I’m kinda weird XD

had one years ago and it was a OK sound card.....ended up replacing it with a SB-1095 USB sound card from them as it had true dolby digital live support for in game 5.1......

i would say get the one i have but they stopped making it and then removed the driver that supported real dolby digital live.....so its a no go.....

its a OK card that will be better then any on board audio but man its getting old....i had mine in 2012.....

Thanks for fast reply mate, yes is old but I like old stuffs if good.
My favourite games are 2005 age of empires 3, 2011 Duke Nukem Forever and 2013 GRID 2.
My speakers are T20 Series II.
New stuffs seem too much gimmick’s either games or HW but that’s my only personal opinion

i got the real 5.1 itch back in the OG Xbox days as i had a real 5.1 sound system and bought the break out box for Xbox that gave me the SPDIF output to run 5.1 IN GAME.....it doubled my kill count in things like UNREAL tournament and really added something that would raise the hair on the back of your neck playing the SUFFERING....and I will never forget the chopper flying around in half life 2....its a minimum for me going forward for all my gaming

with that said, i am not knocking this card...if the drivers work it will sounds better then onboard ever will and is a real upgrade but i know for a fact you will only have 2.0 sound in game.....

really i cant believe they are still making it

yes, I aim for a good stereo sound since speakers don't support 5.1, do you think will that sound card give me good stereo sound? Actually I have a Creative Sound Blaster Play!3 but doesn't feel my expectations, I hope the FX will.

onboard or pci sound is going to be better than usb

onboard is alot better than it was 20+ years ago
the newer realtek are not bad, but not great but still better than any usb card

if you want a better sound card go with a pci-e card

but usb is fine for voip, where lower quality or small delays dont hurt

USB has no issues and has been great for the last 10 years.....try again.....nail in the coffin is the sure number of mixing boards that only interface with USB....but never mind half the recording industry.....

as for the old FX card it will better then onboard for anything.....

If it's SoundBlaster + USB, forget it. You're better off investing that money into a much better quality USB DAC + AMP for around $120 or less.

And use quality Headphones, not Speakers. Unless perhaps you have some good wall-shakers

Yes it is pci express, I aim just to get a good stereo sound.

yes it is still Realtek the engine but I don’t mind if it’s good, my MSI H610M-E audio is awful even if they describe as audio boost.

I got a play!3 usb sound card but hoping to get better experience with the FX which is pci express not usb.
I will substitute the play!3 with the FX.
I use t20 II speakers 2.0

Get an ASUS Xonar DTS 7.1 PCIe card. It whips the llama's ass. I've had one since Windows 7 came about.

u were totally right, pci-e vs usb sound card is day and night difference, the play!3 usb sound card is good for casual or office usage but not good for listening to music

Well the USB stuff should be fine for Music and any other uses really if the PC isn't too old, as an okder PC might get bogged down with too much stuff over USB but where they aren't good is with Gaming

yes, the music with USB sound card play!3 is ok but with the pci-e audigy fx is a way better experience. I would say with integrated mb sound card the experience is bad, ok with the play!3 and good with the audigy fx. To be honest I have a cheap msi h610m-e mb even if they claimed it has a audio boost feature which should give you good audio experience I can assure you is bad.

Everything regarding Realtek Audio has always been terrible; from the max volume, lack of amp boosting (without distortion anyways) as well as the dumbed down equalizer that often times didn't even work and/or refresh properly. I've always disliked Realtek Audio, and for good reasons. I wouldn't have a dislike if it was on-par or anywhere even close to what you could have with a decent USB DAC w/ AMP or some sort of SoundBlaster card.

Not everyone has a nice HD Surround Sound Receiver, so yes there is a reason for Sound Cards to exist. Because onboard audio is complete trash at best, always has been and even on the most expensive Motherboards to-date, the onboard audio is still just trash.

I do not have a surround receiver but I do have a damn fine sounding soundcard by ASUS that outputs stellar 5.1 to my Logitech speakers and subwoofer. Your PC really doesn't need a fancy home theatre system just a good surround setup and a great sound card. I really can't recommend anything past an Audigy 4 these days when it comes to Creative Labs (they're still around?).
