I am new to Xbox anything. I use a playstation controller on my pc normally. The box says Xbox one wireless. I bought it brand new from like a game stop. I told the person I needed an Xbox controller to use on a pc and she said this will work.
Yes of course, I use a playstation controller and more on everyday.
No, it don't show up.
No, it don't show up.
these two, first gen does not support bt, later ones do

and the newest one has share button and sub c port
It looks like it is the first gen, but I don't get why it won't connect with the usb cord either.
Try with a different cable and port. I've had a similar problem with two of the ports on a USB hub that I use. It vibrates when plugged in to those ports but doesn't show as connected on the computer.
You can figure that out by looking at the model# on the sticker either on back of controller or inside the battery compartment area. Then also you can connect it to Win10/11 PC and check the controller Device ID in Device Manager and also within the Xbox Accessories app via Microsoft Store app
wrong as always.....wireless 360 controllers on PC needed their own USB dongle......
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Receiver-Compatible-Microsoft-Controllers/dp/B09291236K
cant find links to the official one but this is a still sold knock off of the dongle that had to be used with 360 controllers to be wireless on PC.......
but the x360 wireless controllers do not use usb to communicate at all, only to charge them
they also do not use bt at all, they only can communicate with the xbox 360 dongle or a xbox 360 console
the xbox 360 dongle will not work with xbox one controllers
you need the xbox one wireless dongle, or if the controller supports bt, any bt dongle will work
none of what you quoted me saying was wrong
xbox one controllers all support usb, but not all of them support bt
xbox 360 controllers do not support bt or usb data at all
the x360 and xbone one dongles are usb, and not bt
the dongle is specific for the controller type
