Gimme a controller recommendation
Hello. As title says I need a new controller. Used the ps4 but it felt too small for my hands. Had the ps5 one but that one lasted less than a year because the left analog stick drifted the hell out.

I use the controller to play a lot of racing and fighting games. Usually some single player games like Ghost of Tsushima or Batman. Planning to buy a ps5 controller again or a victrix pro bfg. But i need y’alls opinion bout it.

Hand/gamepad size is one of the reasons I don't like PS gamepads, they really are built for smaller hands.

An easy choice would be an XBox gamepad. Works absolutely damn fine in games, good build quality, good for big hands. However, there's a contender. Get an 8BitDo Ultimate gamepad, it's good in terms of size, good in terms of build qualtiy and the price is nothing to scoff at.

i would recommend a steering wheel to be honest, from Logitech

but if you want a controller it would be either the ps5 or xbox 360 elite controller

yes you said your controller had drift, but you can check the code on the bottom of the controller and see what badge its from, some badges are just bad for some reason. there are yt videos about that topic if you would like to know more (if its faulty just send it back, also i would not recommend the new ps5 models with quick swap parts)

i have my ps5 controller since ps5 launched in the Netherlands and i never had any issues yet :)

When you run a ruler across, they almost are. It's also about the shape though, there's little volume on PS gamepads meaning less plastic overall to rest one's fingers on. My fingers float for the most part with a PS gamepad and can get (almost completely) cozy on an XBox one.

... or 8BitDo one, those things got some volume too.

+1 on the Xbox S/X controllers! :)
Can be used wired (no batteries) or wireless (with batteries), and works great with Windows 10/11.

(I use Windows 11 on laptop, Windows 10 on my main desktop PC.)

I'm using an 8BitdDo Ultimate 2.4G and it's been great, been using it (as of late) to play Lollipop Chainsaw Repop.....
Xbox controllers are abominations.

Look at 8bitdos. The proper dualshock layouts, with directinput compatibility.

Xbox series X has the best support so you can be sure it will work in any game and in any launcher (GOG, Amazon Games, etc)

DualSense is the only controller with adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. More and more games take advantage of that.
All modern controllers have a risk of stick drifting or torn actuation rubber under buttons and dpad. I wouldn’t cross this pad just because of that.

8bitdo are also fantastic.

I personally went for DualSense and Xbox controller.
Sony controllers have unique dpad that is used by almost all professional fighting games players who don’t use an arcade stick or a hitbox.
If something breaks they are rather easy to fix. I fixed drifting sticks and damaged dpad on mine - plenty of YT videos and replacement parts on ebay.

Hyperkin XG91 has been serving me fine for casual retro gaming / racing games.

For solid d-pads, I quite like the Steelseries Stratus Duo and Scuf controllers. Though they're xinput only and have worthless settings software.
