Wrong/unsupported browser for games
Is there a way to set specific games to use a specific browser? Example: I play Star Trek Timelines, and one of the operations in settings it to sign into Facebook to log into you game account. Well that is all fine and good, but I use Firefox as my default browser. This is an issue with this game for me, though have found this happens with several games that want to open a browser page. They use what you have as Windows default. Is there already a setting for this I have missed? Also, before someone says, why don't I use Edge as my default, well Internet Explorer has always, and I mean always been a joke, and corruptible, and Edge some would say, is IE's inbred cousin. :steamdeadpan:

Thanks in advance.

Isn't a game issue if Steam itself is the process using the unsupported browser. Already even tried setting Edge as default. Still same issues. So I think this fits right where it is as far as Thread. Appreciate the advice though.
If you have to use a chromium browser, use ungoogled chromium

good to know. also would think there was a default setting to change, there is a default home page setting. :steamfacepalm:
How is a of any issues? If you have Firefox, Chrome or Brave for example as the OS default and you go to sites such as Facebook and login and have it remember me so the login cookie is saved to that PC, then a Game such as STO should have no problems in this regard. I used to play that very game and it had no issues using my Firefox or Chrome login cookie as needed. But again you need to have already gone to that site in your default browser and login and have it remember you. I never use Edge or IE; not for many years. IE I stopped using once Vista came out.

I get what you are saying. Facebook on browser and most any app that connects is already setup for this. For some reason when it comes to a couple games, it doesn't and also says unsupported browser when you click on log in with Facebook, and if the time it takes to just type in user name and password, the app times out back into game before ever getting to the point of setting things up. I solved it in a different way. Installed and logged into game through android phone, and now is logged in via Facebook. Now to set up an email/password log in for account and I am good, but doesn't solve the over all issue. I should have to do this much for the game, through Steam to do the same.
To be honest, any PC game that's still using a connect via Facebook is simply outdated and utterly ridiculous. Those can't be trusted because of the ability to leak information.

Have you tried this with a different browser set as the default?
Such as Chrome or Brave.
Brave is the best overall, from the former creator of Firefox.
Firefox is like one of the worst.

No I haven't, will give that a try as well. I've liked Firefox after having issues with browser take overs of IE, Firefox dealt with it. Guess from then on it became my go to. Wouldn't hurt to check out others. Thanks.
Yes Brave browser is quite nice. This coupled with the DuckDuckGo set as the homepage or default search engine is nice to have on any PC or Android device. With a focused aim at privacy protection and web tracking blocking. As well as built in ad blocking. Probably the best browser to use for social media, shopping or YouTube. Without having all those 3rd party companies target you with ads based on your web browsing choices; such as tossing ads into your Google Feed or Facebook Feed based on products you've viewed or purchased on say, Amazon for example.

Brave browser is junk, if you want chromium, use ungoogled chromium or Vivaldi

Brave is just crypto junk

Firefox is good for using privacy and using a different engine

Where do you get that BS from?
Brave was made by the original creator of Firefox.
It's not malicious or junk.

The people running Brave have done sketchy things, that's why.

1. Pushing their own cryptocoin (BAT) to try to make money off of cryptocurrency.

2. Replacing ads with their own ads and not giving websites a cut unless they explicitly ask.

3. Using redirects on crypto site URLs to redirect you to a different URL because any time people are getting into cryptocurrency, they want in.

Haven't checked but if Brave uses Google services, then privacy on a Chromium browser is an oxymoron.
Just because it uses Chromium doesn't mean what you think it does.
Steam Client is Chromium based as well.

Try reading this again:

IF it uses Google services, then regardless of it being a Chromium browser and not Chrome is meaningless, because Google is still involved with it.
Ok what services? It doesn't do or use any of that stuff unless you are logging into them.
