Is nvidia control panel still a thing?
I've just got a new pc hooked up, but the screen display just looks kinda like..dodo. Colors are washed out and its not like my old computer at all. On the old PC I used the nvidia control panel to adjust the display colors, is that still a thing? I can't find a DL for it on the nvidia site.

what gpu does the build have?

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here
its a rtx 4060, I was able to find the control panel in the search menu, I already installed the other nvidia programs I guess it comes bundled with it.
here is the latest driver
it should include the control panel

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/235774/
Disable Driver Updating via Windows Updates.

Download all latest drivers and install them yourself.

Such ase anything the Motherboard has; Chipset, Audio, LAN, WIFI, BT... the drivers for SATA and NVME should be apart of the Chipset Drivers. If you have an iGPU onboard the CPU, install tbat as well. Then download and install latest GPU driver from Nvidia website.

Reboot as needed after each. Then configure your devices accordingly
There is a new app that replaces the Control Panel and Experience.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/software/nvidia-app/
Nvidia still has the Nvidia settings on taskbar if you install the latest drivers without Experience.
It is and it is trash.
Install latest drivers from Nvidia website, click on Nvidia settings on taskbar.
Display - Change Resolution - Use Nvidia color settings.
Put them on Highest (32-bit), 10 bpc, RGB, Full.
never use windows or other programs to check for driver updates
ms never grabs correct ones, just 'compatible' which do not offer full functionality

get them from the mobo mfg or oem site, and amd/nvidia/intel
in case you use windows, you can adjust the display with "dccw.exe". just run it in windows!

You can obviously use Display Settings from WinOS for certain things; but to manage other stuff, use NVIDIA Control Panel.

Such as Screen Res, Refresh Rate, Color Output, Color Range, Display vs GPU Scaling, and all the GPU's 3D related settings as well.

Find out what the native refresh rate and resolution is and set the display to those values. Any other values will look worse.

For example, my display native is 120 hz and 3440 x 1440p resolution. If I set it to anything else, it looks worse.
That's not all to change.
You will want to set Color and Range to RGB + FULL
and where in windows display control panel can you enable/disable gpu scaling and hdrdsr?
The only options the OS offers is screen res, DPI scaling (for text in the OS) and HDR toggle; the rest needs to be done from NVCP
