GTX 1650 Or RX 580 for games?
In a few days I will have my first gaming PC, but the cheapest and best parts I have found for initial use would be these two GPUs... however, I am very undecided about which one to choose. Because both seem to have interesting performance in games for a first computer, and watching many videos they have differences... whether in performance or VRAM. Does anyone who understands computers know which is the best one to have? I would only play singleplayer games more often.

Why those cards?

What's your budget?

Unless you are planning to play old games you better off looking towards 3060 instead.

As far as I can see RX 580 has better performance. If you don't have any specific reason to go for Nvidia, then just take RX580.

Even though RX 580 is good in terms vram, I think you're going on tight budget since you mentioned both of gpus, but if the price is right go for it, but just keep in mind there is no driver support, and it doesnt have mesh shaders so you won't have a decent experience of games the requires that like Alan Wake 2, and yeah it draws a lot of power so if you have psu lower than 600w, its not ideal choice.

GTX 1650 is quite good even though it is only 4gb vram, but it has driver support, and the most recent shaders, it runs quite strong even in 2024 in AAA games but you gotta maintain your expectations and settings this also goes for the RX 580

Both are decent tight budget gpus but if you found one of them on sale, especially gtx 1650 go for it.

But if you have something to spare or you found other gpus like rx 6600 or rtx 3050 on sale, I would highly recommend you go for it.

personally I would go for GTX 1650, if you found super version definitely go for that, but if you can tell me what is your budget and specs of the build you wanna get maybe we can help you a bit more!

Winter is Coming! Gotta keep warm some how!!! and the RX 580 is the perfect candidate for this!

I would chose neither the GTX 1650 and RX 580. Scrap a few bucks more and go for the GTX 1660 Super you would be thank full during summers and your electric bills.

Yeah, very ideal gpu for the weather but yeah at the end of the day I think if OP found a decent sale on a better gpu that will be ideal!

Between these 2 I'd take the rx 580. I think it has twice the vram which helps the card's longevity. I have a rx 570 with 8GB VRAM and get about 40 fps @ 1440p on far cry 6 and other games a few years older than FC6.Also my rx 570 just got a software update from AMD a few days ago.I adjust the amd sofware to only use 120 watts so that limits power usage.I'm on linux right now so can't check, but I think you can turn down wattage usage even further if you want.
The GTX 1650 has mesh shader support. The GTX 1650 is still supported with new drivers.

The 580 has more brute force and more vram. It also lacks driver support. It doesn't support meshes.

Well, the CPU is an I7 3770, and since I live in a country where the RX 580 is the price of a current GPU, should I save up more money to get better cards, like a GTX 1660 Super or RX 6600? November seems to have a lot of sales. Now, about playing more current games like Alan Wake 2, they're not that relevant to me... I kind of have a whole wishlist of games that run with both cards I mentioned in the title, but I'm just undecided about which one to get to see for the first time, you know? Do you have any recommendations for a good computer with cost-benefit specifications? That isn't too expensive?

Is the gtx 1650 also priced like current gpu, if not then I guess gtx 1650 is a solid option, but I do have tell you that this cpu is really old, are you building the pc or is it a used prebuilt?

If you are planning on getting the parts and building it then getting a recent cpu is really important, like the intel i3 12100f or ryzen 5 5500

Again, AMD just released a new driver update a few days ago for rx570 so that includes the rx580.So it still has support. Is Alan wake 2 even playable with a 1660? That game has high requirements besides the mesh shaders. And I can't think of any other games that require them. Are mesh shaders part of ray tracing?
OP: yes if you have the money it would be good if you updated. We don't know where you are and how much you want to spend. Also depends if you want to play newer games eventually or not.

On a tight budget, the RX 580 is much better than a GTX 1650, there's no competition. Much better performance and you have the option of 8GB VRAM instead of just 4GB.

Not true, the RX 580 is still supported, it just doesn't get as many frequent updates as it used to, only the stable driver updates.

Mesh shaders are moot as they're not often used. AMD also uses different mesh shaders from what nVidia uses.
