headphone cause system freeze ??

I have an old headphone which i was using for over 3 years now , i had no issues using it so far .

Recently i bought a earphone for normal, lite non gaming tasks .. and was using both the headphone and earphone plugged into my pc for over 2 months now and was switching between them depending wht i am doing , and so far everything was going fine ...

But since few days whenever i am gaming with my headphone , the audio goes off randomly while in-game , and only comes back if i press volume up key from my keyboard , and even after pressing the volume up key during that time the windows volume up ui ( that shows % increased) does not pops up and then the entire system freezes ( some games even crashes right away ) ..

after freezing for like 5-10 seconds it comes back to normal , with the audio increase ui also returning back ...

All these happens with the headphone only .. when i am using my earphones for gaming and other tasks nothing is happening ..

also the headphone name was disappearing and reappearing from the sound output devices connected lists . whenever this happens ...

and so far when using the headphone was for simple listening music and videos , this issue is not happening .. it only happens when i play any game / using discord


Any suggestion to what might be the fault here would be really helpful , as im completely lost here :(

are they usb or analog?

start with the correct drivers
mobo, chipset, audio, lan etc..
get them from the mobo mfg or oem site

if the headset is analog, use the realtek audio control panel to configure the output/input for the ports you use
any of them can be assigned as in/out for mic/line in and 5.1/7.1 analog output

the headset has usb port , and drivers are all ok , i made sure of it .. the headphone uses a driver , but runs fine without it , so i tried running it without it and still same happened ...even tried uninstalling the driver and running it but same

and also the usb ports are all oke

never depend on windows update for drivers, ms takes a guess and grabs compatible drivers not the correct ones

there was no recent windows update in recent months , and also the headset drivers and other audio drivers in general are all working fine for years , i never had to update anything separately neither windows automatically updated anything and caused any issues before .....

its just all of a sudden its happening , and as of now the headphones are not even showing in list when i plug them in

well the good ol troubleshoot path is, go try on different PC/ devices
and turn off all sound effect

ok if you can confirm on another device (pc or laptop if available), I think we can narrow it down to the USB sound card that is powering the headset having the problem, either going bad and/or damaged.

Which headset is it? is it still under warranty?

Personally I am using a Sound Blaster Play!3 and budget studio headphone (JVC HARX700, awesome bass!) with a cheap clip mic ~$60ish for all three said and done...

edit - and that being said, if you do have a pair of 3.5mm headphones you can test your mobo sound card, that may be a temporarily solution for audio output, if you have a webcam with a mic that might also work in the same respect...

it was a decent brand from our country and not that popular outside i believe , but u can search , its ( Boat immortal 1000D) ... it was ~ 20$ when i bought it back in 2019 or 2020 ig ....
warranty was for 1 year ... however it was working fine without any issues until a month ago ...

i am currently using my earphones to do everything on my pc , which have a 3.5mm jack .. im using it with a splitter to use its mic .. however its working flawlessly without any issues

its only when i plug back my headphones and try to play games with it ... audio goes out and headphone name goes out from available audio i/o devices ... and after sometimes comes back in ..

i dont have any other spare pc sadly :(

great ... i am also thinking about buying a Razer Blackshark V2 X Gaming , costing me around 40$

if you really , really realllyyyy one to have piece with really good audio, sennheiser never go wrong, but stay away with any gimmick Razer stuff
hell it's better you buy off-brand china Oem headset now
