Z370 and a 9900K
So my brother's Birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of giving him my 9900K from the build I'm parting with to replace his 8600K, Would this work? His board is the Rog Strix Z370 Gaming-E. Will the board be able to handle the 9900K? and would a 240mm AIO be enough to cool the thing?
Thanks guys and gals.

Yes, with a new enough BIOS, the 9900K is supported, and the board should be fine for it.

A good 240mm AIO is enough but none of the cheap garbage like ML240L.
A real good 240mm is the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240.

That's good news! That 240mm is the Kraken X53 so should be around LF 240, Thanks man.

Probably good enough for him to OC if he wanted to

And really, it's what the K SKU is made for anyway. An overclocked 9900K can match and beat a 10700K

you'd need a z390 board for the 9th gen, not really much point in giving him that tho a i7 will do just as good, also it runs hot

Not true, Z370 can be updated for 9th gen.
10th gen also runs hotter because it can use more power, so moot point. Guy already has the 9900K and z370-e

Z370 will all work fine for 9th gen cpus, just update to the latest non-Beta bios version

Z370 and Z390 = 8th or 9th gen CPUs

Z490 and Z590 = 10th or 11th gen CPUs

The only major differences between Z370 vs Z390 is every single chipset on the Z390 is Intel based and Z390 chipset has Intel Wifi embedded into the chipset.
