ive always used PS4 controllers because they hardly ever have issues, but i imagine Xbox controllers are just as good.

The only thing i haven't figured out yet is using the steam controller with windows store apps. Everything else it works.
It has favorable reviews and is compatible with PC and Android.
Well I have plenty of PS4 and PS5 controller around here but he wanted something that has the XBOX buttons on it. To which, isn't too hard to find these days, even if you do prefer the DS controller layout, as you can find 3rd party controllers that have the DS physical layout, but with proper XBOX buttons on it.
You'll find them online for outrageous prices. They are good for many games, but not as good as the other two for most games. They're great in FPS/shooters and flying/driving games.
Steam Controller is an interesting novelty.
Xbox controller is trash and no self-respecting PC gamer uses it, no matter how hard Microsoft tries to push it as the default for PC as well as console.
I really wish 8bitdo or someone would make a USB replica of the original Gravis Gamepad, complete with the screw-in joystick.

He's getting an 8BITDO Pro 2. Not bad for $40 (on-sale)
And it's one of the most customizable controllers for that low price range I've ever seen.
