DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION blue screen of deaths
I've been playing Halo the master chief collection, and recently I've been getting this BSOD again. it has happened before but not as frequent every time I get a blue screen of death I will get the stop code DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION.

I have followed countless guides and fixes like doing /sfc scannow and /chkdsk c: /f on CMD
unplugging everything and slowly re-plugging my stuff currently the only things I have plugged in is my Controller, Mouse, ear piece, and my battery charging cable.

I'm using a ACER Nitro AN515-52 gaming laptop with GTX 1050m, 8gb Ram, and I5-8300 2.3 ghz core.

I've done the fixes multiple times that I've lost count none of them don't seem to fix it permanently.

Checking Device manger all my drivers/devices seem to be up to date when I click "Search Automatically for updates"

I've also recently just updated my Nvidia driver to 466.27 it was previously 466.11

Windows is also up to date.

I don't know if this is related? but checking event viewer after my laptop reboots I have 15 errors the source is nvlddmkm.

The main stuff is event ID 13 along with,

\Device\Video4
Graphics SM Warp Exception on (GPC 0, TPC 0): Illegal Instruction Encoding

\Device\Video4
Graphics SM Global Exception on (GPC 0, TPC 0): Physical Multiple Warp Errors

\Device\Video4
Graphics Exception: ESR 0x504648=0x40009 0x504650=0x4 0x504644=0xfb3ffa 0x50464c=0xe000010f

This 3 errors seem to repeat 15 times I dont know if its related or not.

so bad Nvidia driver .. do a clean install of your vid driver and use an older driver

Nvidia is no longer optimizing for a 1050 M laptop GPU as those are now older chips

use ddu for best results

Could you clarify what you mean by no longer optimizing? I still receive driver updates for my gtx 1050m what does that mean?

How old of a driver should I use? revert to 466.11 or go even further back? won't that case problems because of an outdated/old driver version?
dude Nvida does not optimize drivers for older entry level GPUs like the one in your laptop //

SORRY but it = true

find a driver that works and stick with it

do not ever use Nvidia GEFORCE EXPERIENCE to install your drivers or windows update

as yes you may end up with a corrupted driver install that may not work well your chip

nvidia has it focus now on the newer RTX cards and chips not a GTX 1050 M as its a lower end chip ..sorry but that = true ..its an entry level GPU

and heck my old GTX 960 desktop gpu (in my backup system ) is a better card then whats in your laptop and yep still using 388.71 drivers with that

get your older drivers from your laptop makers site for best results or look on guru 3d for older drivers

and yes use DDU for best results

So the notification I receive through Geforce experience that says a new driver version is available is for my card? if its not what is it for and what does it do?

Can you link me any site that says My card is no longer supported? I can't find anything on google saying 1050m is no longer Optimized.

You said don't allow windows update to install drivers? How do I prevent that from happening? its probably doing it behind my back because I didn't know Nvidia drivers update through that I thought that was a manual thing.

So I do DDU uninstall my current 466.27 and install the default factory 388.73 version, do I need to download the intel one also?

What do I do once I download it? it gives me a .zip file to extract where do I extract this? anywhere? or it has to be in a specific location?

Lots of times Nvidia Latest drivers have crashed games and people have had to roll back the driver to an older version.
Do not take any notice of windows 10 telling you about new drivers.
Your GPU is no longer listed on the new Nvidia drivers section / downloads , there is gtx 1050 & gtx 1050Ti there is the note book driver though.
The DDU tool if you have downloaded it , make a new folder on desktop name ddu , extract files to that folder , it is best they say to run the DDU tool in safe mode { i never bother with that } but that`s your choice if you use it .
You may be better going to control panel / device manager and click on you display adapter, properties / driver / roll back

This is a common mistake. Newest drivers do nothing for an older gpu, read the info for the driver before you download it. If there is no benefit to you in it then its a pointless excercise to install it. If your current driver is stable and functions well be happy, no need to fix it.

Alright thanks for clearing that up. I think most of the time the notes say something about Metro exodus and ray tracing and day one optimizations.

So that being said I don't have to download them since they don't affect my current GPU. But let's say if I have the latest GPU this updates apply to them right?

If I understand correctly you're saying the Desktop GPUs 1050ti and 1050 are still supported but the mobile version (which I'm using) is no longer supported? that does not mean its old and I should buy a new gaming laptop right? I can still use the laptop and the GPU but I won't receive updates for it? any "update" that comes out is for the newest GPU?

My roll back option in Device manger is Grayed out. I guess I have to do a DDU and reinstall the factory stable 388.73

Extract DDU to a folder named DDU okay got that. But what I don't get is where do I put/extract my 388.73 .zip file that I get once i download it from the ACER site?

Is that a zip file , if so create folder on desktop name = that driver then extract to the folder , then double click on it to install , go for cutsom / clean install.
you go to nvidia.com / drivers / and look for your 1050m i cannot find it , having said that the note book one would probably do it , but that`s the latest driver you do not need, there are drivers on the ddu tool site

The notebook one is my one.
does the folder have to be on desktop? gets a bit annoying if my desktop is cluttered can I move it somewhere else after installing it?
