Annoyed by it? How can one use a Laptop that lacks it, period.
There should be software installed that controls it, try turning it off from there.

I mean wouldn't it consume more power?
I don't see any use of keyboard backlight unless i type with absolute no light which i generally dont

The tiny little LEDs under your keyboard would consume bugger all power.. your laptop battery could run them alone for weeks

the leds for the keyboard are <0.1w
the display backlight leds are aroudnd 10-20w
turning down the backlight make a bigger difference on saving the battery
or even setting cpu power save modes when running on battery
Ryzen 5 3550H is 15-35w

The LEDs are very low power, you won't be saving any power really by turning it off. Learn to type without looking at your keyboard and then it's not of any issue.

I prefer keyboards these day to have back lighting of some sort, where it actually lights up the digit/symbol/letter because on many keyboards that just have cheap printed on lettering, it tends to rub off after a while. I've been using, building, selling desktops and laptops with backlit keyboards since around 2010. Used them ever since.

Yes I have ordered a keyboard which has backlights
I find them cool on individual keyboard but not on laptops

I only use a select few Laptops over the years that I actually like.
Sager, Lenovo, Alienware. They allow to turn off the backlighting via the Fn+Combo Key without any need for any software.
