Ultrawide monitors for gaming?

I'm looking into getting a new monitor or new monitors, mine are old, they're thick, not very bright, 1080p, and below 60Hz. I've been considering getting an ultrawide or three matching monitors. If I am to get an ultrawide, I might keep the newer ones of my current monitor around it for work etc.

My main question is, how is gaming with an ultrawide monitor? How many games support it? How do games play if they don't support ultrawide? Super wide side-letterboxes?

Most games in the last 5 years support ultrawide.

There is a website dedicated to ultrawide and you can search games and see how each ones ultrawide is done etc.

Oh, also I just realized recording videos and screen captures will be very weird for youtube etc if I go for ultrawide...
Yeah I think there's just too many "if"s with ultrawides. I think I should be better off with triple monitor... I'm running a GTX1080, might be a bit dated but should be able to handle it on some rare occasions if I want to try it out.

There is nothing weird about YouTube ultrawide. Your recorded Videos will be ultrawide like the most movie / film format now days. YouTube already have millions of ultrawide videos in it.
