Is My CPU Good Enough?
Hello everyone,

I'm new to PC gaming and barely have any hardware knowledge, and I need help figuring out what exactly goes wrong while trying to play these games: Batman: Arkham Knight and L.A. Noire. Thanks for your help in advance!

Installed RAM: 8,00 GB (7,43 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Edition: Windows 10 Pro
GPU: Intel HD Graphics Family
DirectX Version: 12

Requirements for L.A. Noire:

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel CPUs - Dual Core 2.2 GHz to Quad Core 3.2GHz; AMD CPUS - Dual Core 2.4Ghz to Quad Core 3.2Ghz
Memory: 2GB to 8GB
Hard Drive: 16GB Available
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512MB to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 1536MB or Radeon HD3000 512MB to Radeon HD 6850 1024MB
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 9 compatible

Requirements for Batman: Arkham Knight:

MINIMUM:
OS: Win 7 SP1, Win 8.1 (64-bit Operating System Required)
Processor: Intel Core i5-750, 2.67 GHz | AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz

That is laptop, these games can make your gaming unpleasant.
Arkham Asylum, GTA IV and Arkham City did just fine somehow... That's why I figured my laptop could run these games too. Though they're older, of course...

Those use directx 9 so maybe la noire can work. Arkahm knight is out of the question though because you would need directx 11 hardware acceleration.
I remember la noire being fussy with first launch. The solution I found was to close steam client, restart pc and run steam as administrator. This will let la noire perform the first time setup properly (I'm not sure why). After you get the game running you may exit, then close steam and run steam normally and la noire should still work after that.
Cheers!
You said "you would need directx 11 accelaration". I have directx 12, doesn't that do the trick?

You only have support for directx 12 in a software environment. You don't have hardware acceleration for 3d games that render in directx 12 and utilize a nvidia or amd graphic card. That's why you see stores list requirements with only these. They never say intel graphics, because most of them don't have hardware acceleration.
You will be most likely limited to games that can run in directx 9, maybe 10.

You do realized that I never said "will" or "won't"?
That laptop is similar to mine, but slightly higher tier from the same time from. Haswell "U" CPU with the Intel IGP. It can't even run League of Legends at 60 FPS at maximum settings at 1366 x 768 (mine might be further hamstrung by a low clocked CPU though) though it runs it fine if some things are lowered. So, I'm surprised those games run fine for you.

A lot of the games from the series you mention come from the days when Core 2 and early Core i series (think Sandy Bridge) and GeForce 8800 GT to GeForce GTX 200s were common in gaming, so your Intel HD 4400 might run them, but not well. The newer entries in the series, however, probably demand more, which is why Arkham Knight won't run, but Arkham Asylum did (I ran this on a Core 2 Duo E8x00 and GeForce 8800 GT back then). Being able to run Super Action Shooter 3 doesn't mean you can run Super Action Shooter 7 - Revenge Edition, for example. So I wouldn't expect to get Arkham Knight running. IIRC this may have been the one (it was one of them) that had a somewhat bad reputation for performance at the time. Might be a heavier engine or reworked rendering or something. L.A. Noire may work, on the other hand, but I'm not too familiar with it as I never played it much and dropped it before finishing it.

Thanks for the answer, cool username by the way. :) To take a note, I played GTA IV with quite lowered settings, and had a pretty mediocre Arkham City experience regarding graphic/FPS quality. I totally understand why Arkham Knight won't work though, simple hardware inadequacy. It's just really frustrating that there is no possibility of pushing the limits of the CPU somehow. I need to buy a whole new laptop just to play a game from 2015. I guess technology just improves way too fast... :) Or maybe it's just... an illusion of progress... LOL. Anyway, as it turns out, I'll need to save the cr*p out of my money to be able to finish the series. :)

You can't run games on that laptop. It lacks any kind of amd or nvidia gpu, which is a must and also the cpu would be too weak anyways.

All you have is an officr/media laptop, nothing more. Can't even run Minecraft or Fortnite very well on that.

Minecraft is simultaneously something that will drag even the best CPU down (or GPU with certain shaders/resource packs) while also running okay on very old or bare level hardware. It's all about using the appropriate settings (namely, a lower render distance for slower CPUs, and not playing with shaders depending on preference/with weaker GPUs).

Considering both my similar but weaker laptop runs Minecraft fine, as does my even older Core 2 Quad and GeForce GT 1030 (but also the same with the GT 430), I'd say OP's laptop will run that game well.
