Looking to replace a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical...
I've gone through several of these mice over the years, and have always enjoyed them. My current mouse is about to give up the ghost. I would like to upgrade to a newer mouse with a better DPI (this one is only 400 DPI)

The thing I've always liked about these mice is that the left thumb button is fairly large and directly underneath my thumb. Many other mice I've looked at over the years have the left thumb button in such a position I have to "reach" for it somehow or another.

Anybody have any suggestions?

What's your budget?

Unless its a mouse I know I can get more than a couple years out of, I'd say $50 tops.

Having more than 5 buttons would be nice, but not necessary. Easily-accessable buttons are more important than the quantity of buttons. Wireless too isn't required, as this is for my home desktop computer.

Logitech G400 or G400S (or later/newer model)
