Gaming laptop help, please.
Hi all, I'm getting at least $700 in 2-3 days and I want to get a PS4 or laptop for gaming. I have been looking at manafacturer refurbished laptops since they are very cheap and only have very small damage to them which is not a problem for performance.

I found
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Acer-Aspire-V5-571PG-15-6-Intel-CORE-i7-8GB-1TB-2GB-GPU-Win8-NX-M8MSA-002/231199002956?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140106155344%26meid%3D8211299774568575577%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D20140106155344%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D121279866409&rt=nc
it seems good and the price is amazing, I just need some help with the graphics card it has. The seller said it has NVIDIA GeForce 710M. My question is: Can this run Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Ghosts, battlefield 4, watch_dogs and other of the latest games?

Thank for the help if you did.

Do not get that laptop needs to be higher then a 650 750 videocard that is not a gaming laptop that well run terrible. you need to spend more then a 1000 bucks for a gaming laptop that is a FACT even used. anything below X40,X30,like 740,730,720M is terrible for gamiing. same thing with amd videocards in laptops needs to be higher then 750 like 760M minimum for gaming.

I bought a gaming laptop and I wish I would have just bought a desktop instead. This is the link to mine if you were wondering what I have. http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GX70_3BE.html
If I were you I would either save up enough money for a desktop or just go with the ps4

My cousin has 740m and gets good gameplay.
710m is worst. you wont be able to battlefield 4 even on low settings and also watch dogs, and cod ghosts.

Acer Aspire V5-571PG has GT 710M ~ Do not buy it. It will be no better than a laptop that just has Intel GPU (like HD 4000 series)

If u do not get at least an NVIDIA 650 or 750 GPU it will be crap for games; so please know what u are buying.

I don't need to have a whole lot of FPS. 24 FPS is all anyone needs to play a game. That toshiba laptop will do me good.
In most games u need something like GT 640M just to get a decent average though.
710M is just better at hardware acceleration for entertainment/HD purposes compare to the Intel HD. It is not for gaming!

If u want to buy junk, go right ahead. You dont need our help then.

With a bit of logic you can guess the performance of some cards just by looking at the numbers.
First is the generation, second is the model, third is either 0, 0M or 5 - standalone, integrated, mobile. The most important is the second, the model number.
GT cards
1,2 - office use, depending on generation the performance in video acceleration
3 - home media, basic gaming
4 - home media, gaming according generation
GTX
5,6 - mid level gaming cards
7,8 - pro gaming cards

Of course desktop version are always stronger as the laptop versions and the generation also can play role - the GTX 750 beats the GTX 480 in almost all games.
The 710M is trash, the 630M is better but still not for gaming. The 2GB is decoration only, due the low memory bus it bottlenecks itself and cannot even use 1GB from it.
24FPS is possible, but with lowered details. Of course it will hardly run new games like Watch Dogs on any detail. But it's your money, not mine.

Absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. 24fps in games is stuttering like hell. Game framerates dont work like movie framerates. The way the image is created requires way higher framerates in games to feel smooth.

ED: That Toshiba laptop you put in #13 has a good CPU, but the GPU is still entry level. 740M is better than the HD4000, but you dont get any high resolutions or high settings in games. More like around 720p on medium settings perhaps. Plus, the RAM is on the small side, but you said you have other RAM ("other"? replacing those 4GB with more but way slower RAM wont help too much).

Just get a PS4; your budget is not going to allow for a "gaming laptop"
Otherwise look to spend at least $850 for something worth-while.

If you want to game sub 30 fps then fine but don't complain if you get heavy stuttering and framedrops.

Gaming is not the same as films, as you are the one controlling the character. With 30+ (60 is quite optimal) framerate your controls are more responsive.

Just get a PS4, don't bother with sub par "gaming" laptops. And If you really need to spend some money on a gaming PC then make your own custom build.
