Games crashing with steam crash after joining multiplayer game
Just like the title says my games crash when steam crashes. I have been looking at task manager when this happens and essentially right when I join a game with a friend my steam is running my cpu at 100%. Then steam crashes with no error report or anything. Then my game stops responding and I have to tab out to fix that. From there the cpu is back to normal. I have an i7 processor and this problem only started occurring the other day when I was playing street fighter. This is the odd part though, my game crashed then with my whole system freezing. I was playing arcade then though, but since this whole ordeal has been occurring. I can play games like fallout just fine but any game that I want to join friends on all crash(Pay day 2, Europa, and Street fighter).

I have done that numerous times on all these games. I even reinstalled steam and reinstalled europa to see if that would work and to no avail.

When u launch a Steam game and that reaches the main menu; try ALT+TAB back to windows desktop and then close any other Steam windows. As Steams main window will auto-minimize to taskbar icon when X'ed out.

See if that helps.

If not try:
> turning off Steam In-Game Overlay

> check in Steam > Settings > Downloads to ensure "Allow downloads during gameplay" is not ticked.

> Monitor your CPU & GPU temps.

I will try the minimize one and checking the settings for downloads. The steam overlay I already tried and it is possible but unlikely my rig is overheating as per my temps haven't changed since prior the crash. Thanks for the reply.

Alright, source games worked. I tried to reinstall my interent drivers and still doesn't work for street fighter or any other non source online game.

I tried your suggestion and that did not work, but as I just stated, this problem does not affect source games like CS:GO.
