Try getting a R7 260X or better or a GTX750(Ti). The 260X sometimes performs a little better, but if you're concerned about power supply, get the 750(Ti), it uses Maxwell which has a much lower power consumption than Nvidia's and AMD's other architectures.
Also, what's the make and model of the PSU? A quality 400W could be enough for a 260X, a no name unit could be too inefficient.
You don't need a 6-pin PCI-E connector. Most video cards come with a molex adapter.
