Can't install a Nvidia Gefore GTX 650. Need help!
Just like the title says I can't install the Geforce GTX 650. All the cables are hooked up right but whenever I turn on my computer with the graphics card running I get a black screen with a black screen that says
"Nvidia Geforce GTX 650" with the version number as well.
If anyone can help please leave some tips or comments.

Make sure the card is correctly fitted into the slot, (some boards have a locking pin at rear), and the six pin power cable is plugged in, also make sure ram chips are still correctly seated. It may be a faulty card or psu otherwise.

Do you have powerful enough PSU? You need 400W PSU for this card, 450W if it's some generic unbranded PSU without 6+2 pin PCI-E connectors.

edit: nevermind, it's GTX 650 not GTX 650 Ti. GTX 650 would be fine with 300W PSU.
Are you sure you have GTX 650 and not 650 Ti? 650 doesnt need any power cables like 650 Ti (well some factory overclocked versions do), if you have card that needs additional power cables then you might have GTX 650 Ti and your PSU might not be enough.

At any rate what PSU do you have?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. but this would be the first graphics card that would be going into my computer

Computer specs:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2320 CPU 3.00GHz

CPU Speed: 3.0 GHz

Ram: 8.1 GB

Video card: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family

I also installed a 500 WT power supply because I saw that it needed at least 400 WTs to use it.

What is the name and model of the mainboard?

Is the monitor connected to the 650 or the motherboard? It should be connected to the 650.

What kind of power supply. Some cheaper ones are much lower wattage than what they say they are.

^ what he said
not all 500w psus are capable of outputing 500w and being within the atx sepc for ripple/noise

Yes mainly we need to know:

> Motherboard (brand+model)
> Power Supply (brand+model)

And ensure the display cable is connected to output port on the 650 GPU, and not one on the motherboard, which is for the Intel GPU.

The power supply is an Thermaltake TR2 W0379RU and my motherboard is a Gateway dx4870-ub21p

Try powering off, disconnect power cable from PSU.

Remove and then re-seat the GPU card. Make sure it's fully seated all the way down into the slot. Sometime just a slight of the way out and it won't get power or display a picture.

Re-check the cables connectors, especially the PCI-E ones on the GPU card.

Overall that is a poor PSU, but it should work ok for your setup.
