[SOLVED] Random lag spikes in online games

Approximately every minute, I'm getting a lag spike in online games. I never get lag spikes in singleplayer games. I've done multiple internet speed tests, but all of them say that my ping, download speed & upload speed are good. I've also lag spikes in online games at other pc's in my house. During a lag spike (2 seconds) my fps is the same as before the lag spike.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

PC specs:

Processor: I5 4670k
Graphic card: Asus GTX 770
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45
Ram: 16 gb DDR3
Harddisk: 2TB
OS: Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit

Did you try pinging your router though? For at least 5 mins, then you can easily see if you need to blame the router or not.

To get your router ip you'll need to open up the cmd prompt and enter ipconfig, look for "default gateway".

I've pinged my router and every minute my ping is ~2000ms for 1 sec, and after that its 1ms/2ms again.

If you are getting these lag spikes on other PCs in your house, then it's something common to the setup of all the PCs or your network equipment/ISP. When these lag spikes occur, do you notice anything detrimental in the game or are you just watching the in-game meter?

I've already solved the problem. Its was my NAS (Network-attached storage) that caused the problem. Thanks for your help!
