yes, check if it has a free/usable mSATA slot (or M.2). There's mSATA versions up to 1TB of the Samsung 840 Evo, a few other brands too, and M.2 SSDs are slowly picking up too.

I checked, I did an online chat with the lenovo rep. the Y50 that I was looking at can hold only 1, be it HD or SSD!

On the bright side....i found two more MSI under 1500$ that are way better on a different site.

(On man the sagers are even better and cheaper but no accidental dmg and the accidental dmg is really really costly so no point, crying a little at me being a little bit clumsy, why god why! )

anyhow...

MSI GT60-2oc-024US
i7 4700
nvid gtx 770 (3 GB)
16 ram
128 SSD
500 GB 5400 HD

MSI GT60 Dominator
i7-4800
nvid gtx 870 (3gb)
16 ram
1TB 7200 HD

The dominator is 75$ costlier (1450 total) and without an SSD, but I already have a spare SSD so guess thats okay. Now the question is how much is the performance difference between these two processors and graphic cards and is it really worth going right till my upper limit of the budget?

U can live with not getting SSD included. Often might be better to buy the laptop and install SSD + redo the OS yourself to avoid the extra cost the OEM would often charge for including a decent SSD, plus u could pick the SSD make/model.

I say GT60 (with i7-4800 + GTX 870) hands down if u can afford it. MSI should give u a physical OS disc, but I am not sure on that anymore. Anyways I would get it, leave the HDD data as-is for the time being, then clean install the OS to an SSD u purchase yourself and you will have a really nice setup.

okay so i ended up getting a msi gt 60 423 instead of a 424. Its a freaking amazing laptop. I am still waiting to get my ssd. Dont think i need more than 12 GB of ram at this point.
