early optical mice was unrealible on most serface i had a early microsoft one and it was terrible off the mouse mat but as rotNdude the logitch mx 518 was proberly the ebst optical mouse made Even worked on my black marbal kichen serface which my naga epic cant do!
the sensai raw is a really nice mouse tbh you wont go wrong with it
Highly recommend:
Logitech G500 or Razer Deathadder. Both palm grip. Lazer point. Weight is excellent. Accuracy is great. Comfort is extremely high for hours of gaming on end. Features have what you need but nothing you don't. Built to last 8 years+ (still going strong).
Logitech MX 518 is the best optical by far, the G500 is a recreation of it with lazer.
Use a Razor Goliathus (control or speed edition, depending on your gaming style) mouse pad to go with it. This will turn slow palm grip movements into faster claw-like speed, with pin point accuracy. Overall great for gaming as well as general work use.
You will never in a lifetime see a pro gamer with wireless, ask yourself why? As for that mouse, it actually offers a plugable optional cable.
i second that notion , i love my deathadder.. it replaced my 8 year old MX510...wich i also loved.. ( i still have the mx510 and it still works , i just had to engineer the cable to make it work at the usb plug )
Deathadder is optical and razer stuff is overpriced and breaks fast.
That's what I've heard, but my Naga and Orochi(travel mouse) has been going strong for just under 2 years.
However if your surface area is not smooth, flat, even; then u will want a surface pad for that. However this is also a fairly personal choice, some like the rubberized bottom pads with the cloth surface and others prefer the super-smooth hard-finished surface pads.
As far a what mouse, well too many out there, but a good programmable mouse with many buttons and available DPI settings is only as good as the software. So for that I would choose Logitech. They also have very good warranty/support.
