PC suddenly very slow and unresponsive
Yesterday i turned my PC off after gaming and the fans stayed on for an extra like 30 secs, then compelety turning off. Next day after booting up the pc i noticed that the boot time that usually takes around 10 seconds now took around 2. After reaching my desktop, everything was unresponsive and took ages to load in. games run fine but take much longer to get into.

I had this happen on Windows 10, thats why i switched to 11, hoping that the problem would be resolved but to no avail. I am asking you all for tips and psrsonal experiences with similar events. Any info would be extremely helpful!

If the post picks up i can share some details in the discussion but i dont want to type too much here

If it's not a hardware or BIOS issue but something that just consistently happens with Windows after awhile then I guess it's time to switch to Linux
My friend who installed Windows 11 on my pc ran through my hardware and he said that they came up clean. About BIOS, im not sure how to check if it is the problem

Updating BIOS might fix the problem if BIOS is the issue

I'm more or less expecting it to be a Windows issue though because other people have had the same issues, me included when I used to use Windows

it happened on me back in the day, when i have plenty APPS running on the startup thingy, especially when i running Qbit, but always fine when doing Boot up

Bios is like last resort, execpt you installed new hardware and stuff

i havent changed anything about the startup, it was the same since the day i configured everything to my liking, im on ssd so the boot should be fast no matter what.

go check your task manager, see what running weirdly like always 100% or in the User tab, you can see what apps or anything eat up your resources,
or just your drive is dying which is i doubt, SSD is tough SoB
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp and check that Temp, maybe there is something virus going on

Disable Hibernation and reboot and see
was it a clean install or a upgrade ? a win 11 update could be stuck.try rolling back to an earlier date.
also could try a fresh clean install of win 11

yes it was, completely new install. It was good fora few weeks and now it does this
if you can replicate the problem each time then try this unplug all usb devices from your pc keep the mouse as last then when you clicked shutdown remove the mouse aswel

malfunctioning usb devices can cause significant slowdowns also never leave a external harddrive in the pc when you turn it on and off they always been problematic during boot and shutdown
____________________________________________________________
if this did not help remove all ramsticks and leave in 1 and check if it fixes it yes then try 2 so 1/3 is occupied for dual channel or 2/4 if it comes back say 1/3 worked and you added another stick to 2 and the problem occurs move it to 4 and try again why? this is to check if the stick is not dead but the memory controller on the motherboard or cpu are problematic if it works on 4 then plug in the last one

if by any means it works now you likely do have a motherboard memory controller issue similar to what i had with a phenom processor years back

lastly if that did not help unplug all storage except for your os if you have more then your operating system drive if you have more m.2 ssd's this becomes more annoying to test

if this fixes it then one of your harddrives/ssd's causes a interupt and if you do have a hard disk then do you know if its smr or cbr if you dont and its a seagate then it might be a smr and seriously screw shingled magnetic recording drives its still one of the worst hard drive tech that exists

put this as last due to it might be more annoying to do depending on your storage setup

pc will acutally over heat for a short period of time if you shutdown at max temp, imagine youre running at 100/100 degrees now you just shut off the one thing keeping it cool, your fans.

thats probly not your problem.

sfc /scannow
chkdsk /f /x /r

but i dont think that will help either. phone supoport would tell you that though/.

no it wont

the cpu/gpu will throttle and ask for lower voltage when they overheat (not dependent on the os, the driver tells windows how to handle it when it is throttling so most things do not crash)
you can run a system without a cpu cooler, it will just throttle to <800mhz and park cores to keep itself cool (under its tjmax of 100c)

if its not thermal throttling, and the board has an adequate vrm config for the cpu at max load

then about the only things left to cause lowered performance is drivers or bios

bios could have incorrect settings forcing it to run at lower speeds
update and reset to default and enable xmp/amp/docp again

and get the correct drivers from the mobo mfg site, and amd/intel/nvidia

Make sure your Ethernet has a condom on it to stop any viruses or malware.

i said a pc will overheat for a short period of time if you shutdown at max temperature.

youre reply is no it wont, the cpu will ask for a lower voltage.

your reply doesnt make sense i said its shut down. the cpu doesnt ask for anything anymore its off.

sorry if you can rephrase that maybe i can understand better.

another thing to keep in mind is overheating will CHANGE THE BIOS even if it was set correctly before.

after overheatr you must flash. but i dont think he overheated.

Thank you guys for the tips

Since yesterday i tried the unplug you peripherals method and it actually worked. The pc stopped in an instant after unplugging the headset from the pc, super weird.

I had fast startup enabled ever since i got this pc, now i turned it off becazse everyone says that it sucks

The pc is still super sluggish when it come to booting and shutting down

i ran chkdsk and it came out clean, im not sure if it missed something or that everything is actually fine in the pc but non the less, it came out clean.

i will try some more stuff in the future, but if nothing helps i might take my pc to a shop for the first time ever. im not a savvy when it comes to pcs which is a damn shame
