Good alternative for 7800x3d
9800x3d is out of stock and crazy expensive rn and 7800x3d is prolly will never be back in stock again. You think its worth waiting for 9800x3d till maybe january or just get something decent but not x3d?

The 14900kf should come close to 7800x3D perf.[www.amazon.co], but there are those raptor lake issues, you'd kind of be adopting a dead end platform. and it's still $100 more expensive than the 7800x3D was earlier this year. It also doesn't help if you're already on AM5, but let us face facts here. If you're on AM5, it is too early to upgrade anyway.

I would say it is probably worth waiting for the 9800x3D though. It is literally the only chip out of Arrow Lake and Zen 5 that has significant gains against Zen 4 and Raptor Lake counterparts in gaming, it's the first 3D v-cache chip that's fully unlocked for overclocking and A.M.D. generally takes two years to come out with a new home S.K.U. chip. It's 18% faster than the 14900k in most games according to techspot[www.techspot.com], and in the select few where it falls behind (Star Wars Outlaws, Throne and Liberty and Halo Infinite), it's not far behind. It's only one frame behind in S.W.O., and 5 in H.I., which is its worst game in their 45 game suite. In 42 of the other games, it meets or beats the 14900k's perf.

Intel regressed with Arrow Lake, so they'd be lucky to match the 9800x3D with whatever their Ultra series successor chips will be, and Bartlett lake on might not have massive gains, if it's even compatible with home P.C. motherboards in the first place.

Sad thing is if the Trump tariffs go through the price will probably stick where it's at rather than going down for a while, but we've got about a couple of months to wait for restock before Trump even takes office. However, with it being the holiday shopping season we're probably saying that shopping is going to be especially competitive right now.

9800x3d. I have a 7800x3d and love it and I have friends who regret cheaping out or being impatient by not waiting for restock or saving up a little more.
Wait for july. New cpus will be released for summer. Imho.
Worth waiting for 9800X3D. There are also some new X3Ds coming out that could be even better.
no reason to buy intel....no upgrade path.....as for something close why not a 7700x or 9700x???....7700x is a great option right now given price point and you will have a AM5 motherboard that will see new CPU's unlike intel options.....

If you are near a Microcenter (or whatever that German retailer is) I heard the 7600X3D is almost as good as the 7800X3D at a far better price.

Honestly all of the past few gens of AMD CPUs are great. It isn't like the 7700X or 9700X are bad at all, they get panned hard on Youtube because they aren't as good as the 7800X3D and 9800X3D (which are literally the best gaming CPUs on the market) but they are all top-tier CPUs.

If you are set on getting a X3D CPU though you're probably going to have to deal with the 9800X3D price. Considering the demand I'd expect the price to either stay firm or even increase over the next year.
