Need help in linux

I have a non steam game downloaded through lutris. When I try to launch the game in "gaming mode", the game will not see my controller but if I launch through desktop mode, my controller works just fine. How can i fix this

This is on steam deck btw

Have you tried adding it back into steam as a non steam game

Heck you can add lutris as a non steam game and benefit of the controller support in every game launched in lutris

I have tried adding the game itself but it launches into the games launcher first. Maybe thats why? Its not directly launching the game .exe

I have not yet tried adding lutris itself though. Will try later

It didnt work, even adding lutris directly to game mode still wont enable controllers.

I do see this one reddit post saying to plug an external controller, then the sd controller will start working so I hv to try that even later

I have better luck with Bottles than Lutris with Linux mint.

I'm getting the same exact problem, I'll try downgrading tomorrow and report here if that fixes the problem

I already fixed it by adding the exe to steam and forcing Proton 9.0.

This didnt work with Vita3k though. It will refuse to see the controller in anything other than desktop mode no matter the compatibility layer (proton, steam linux runtime)

are you running the Windows build of Vita3K through Proton or the native Linux build?

Not so sure if this could fix it but at least it worked for me. I've tried to roll back to 0.5.17 but the problem persisted, changed the runner from wine-ge-8.26 to UMU-proton 9.0 3-2 and not controllers work again
