From i5 12400f to i7 14700k

My 12400f has served me well over the last couple years but I’m starting to see it drag my 4070 down quite a bit in some games like stalker 2 and space marine 2 where I know it should be getting much better performance. I think it’s finally time for an upgrade. Especially since I’m considering getting a 5080 to replace my 4070 when the 5000 series cards release. Is there a better upgrade I can buy in this price range or is the 14700k pretty much the best option?

I have never seen my I9 11900H in my laptop anywhere near maxed out playing any game.
The 3060 is another story... LOL

I bought a Lenovo Legion with th 13th gen I9 and 4080 and don't see much difference in CPU power, but the 4080 made a huge difference.

Your CPU can be a bottleneck even if it is not maxed out.
