Dual monitors

I could get a second monitor, mainly becasue i don't have one. Thing is i wouldn't know what to use it for. Why do people usually get a second monitor?

A lot of people use 2 or more monitors because of the additional workspace, but a larger screen can do the same thing more or less if you get an ultrawide

However it's most often for people who want a browser or chat app open on the secondary screen while they do their main task on their primary screen

Having a podcast or audiobook in the background while Minecrafting is nice, but sometimes there's something you want to watch on the other screen while mindlessly stripmining or managing farm or fishing or waiting for villager trades to reset.

efficient? thats a load of bull, you will be focused on your only in front of you, why would you want keep distracting to left and right

Depends on what you do. For productivity more space.

Can watch videos, communications, etc... while gaming. Can use picture in picture and always on top to watch videos anyways just on a smaller image.

A second monitor takes up a lot more space. Can get vesa mount stands.

Could also just get a cheap tablet and a stand etc...

For me it's mainly because whenever I want to watch a movie or play a game (basically anything where you want something either full screen or taking up nearly the entire screen, I use my 2nd screen to display most used stuff so it's always right there. Forget all that ALT+Tabbing on a single screen. I only ever done that when on a Laptop on the go or back in the days of Win95. I've used 2 screens minimum ever since WinME/2000 came out. I did use 3 screens for a while for NVIDIA surround gaming but eventually moved on away from that to 1x 2160p 16:9 screen and 1x 1440p 21:9 screen. Mostly using the 4K screen as the accessories display screen since it can show 4x the amount of stuff on-screen at once compared to 1080p. I can use the 2nd screen for whatever, while having something full screen on the 1440p gaming monitor, which due to the 21:9 ratio also makes it the better choice for movies/shows as well. Using the 2nd screen to monitor my hardware, display web browser for whatever reasons, etc. All while not interfering with my primary screen mostly used for things like gaming.

2nd display is extremely useful

temp monitoring, chat apps, viewing walkthroughs while playing

for work, can look at pics while drawing cad/art

basically anything you would need to alt+tab for, just drag to the other display

To do two things at the same time without flipping back and forth between apps? You can have 2 different things on 2 different apps open and see them at the same time with 2 monitors. I have 3 and wish I could add 3 more.

games on one and everything else on the second, ie... no more alt tabbing to look up something, or w/e you are wanting to do while gaming.

I have 3 monitors. The best one (1440p 165hz) in the middle i use for games and most other things. Cheap 1080p 60hz monitors on the sides, one for twitch/youtube/spotify etc. The other one mostly for cctv.

So that I can play games on one and watch videos on the other, keep an eye on chat, shop, you name it. It's multitasking at it's best!!

I only use the second one when I am playing games.

Having more monitors makes it easier to diagnose PC issues as they happen plus it also helps if you develop games, create music, etc... - I have four monitors in the studio.

I have one 27 inch and i am satisified (no real benefit unless you are doing some special work).

i just find it nice to have a second monitor.
mainly for playing videos as i am playing a game or reading, it's also super nice to not have to alt+tab when you need to do literally anything else.

i don't see any reason to add another monitor though, 2 is easily enough.
