Noctua NH-D15 vs Thermalright Phantom Spirit

Which one should I get for the 3700x I have I might upgrade to the 5700X3D, Just wanna replace the stock cooler I've been using for years so I can overclock a little or atleast have my CPU run at a cooler temp with my current settings at 4ghz

when i was in the quest looking for CPU cooler, saw every benchmark, every review, every list, so between them, Phantom spirit is the winner
other worth to mentioned : AK620 or assasin 4

I'm probably getting the phantom spirit but ill see if i can find reviews/benchmarks of the others with my CPU, thank you

There are some good options for air coolers on the higher end but when it comes to the noise to performance, quality, durability and customer service like if you need new socket parts later then nothing will touch Noctua.

I'm not worried about noise at all it can sound like a jet ill be fine with it, is the Thermalright less reliable/durable?

Noctua anything because of their 6-year warranty shows what type of quality these things are - mine runs almost 24/7 for the past 7.4 years and is still silent - hands down Noctua NH-D15 is the clear winner in durability and reliability plus the airflow is amazing.

How strong is the plastic on the fans ? I am worried about the cheaper one having flimsy fans that could break, I had the noctua one years ago but I sold it when I sold my i5 4690k back in the day

I can say on the Noctua Personal and Industrial models, the fans are thick, but not as thick as they used to be, but some cheaper Noctua models have thinner plastic; however, the fans the NH-D15 uses are the better ones, the cheaper/thinner fans you will see on those "Redux" or even the FLX (Flex) models - but not with Founders edition or Chroma-black (Chromax) edtion; the Industrial fans are made from different materials that can handle water, oil, and dust (they even have higher IP ratings for limited water exposure installations but strangely enough, the 140mm versions cost way less than all the other models).

I also use their IP56 Industrial model (non-pwm) for a rear exhaust fan and day and night better than many other personal use fans plus those never have dust stuck on them because of the IP rating, not loud either to my surprise, but I own NH-D15 and you really would want a Full or Super tower with it as the depth is very thick (I have a full tower and it comes 3mm shy of the glass component side facing - also best to run non-pwm but it comes with two options PWR and PWM which is considered their "silent" feature as it draws much less power hence in turn, delivers higher temperature ratings when using PWM.

Let's just say Noctua is thicker than CoolerMaster fans (if you ever used those), but not as thick as Thermaltake stock fans - the NH-D15 uses founders edition fans (the originals) but so does Chromax (those new black fans) - just stay away from those Noctua "Redux" cheapo fans which I believe use an inferior bearing system as opposed to the higher priced fans in regards to actual case fans by Noctua (they don't use Redux on CPU cooling solutions - maybe one of the smaller models but I forget) - I just wish the CPU cooling fans were IP56+ rated because they will collect some dust, not a lot as the heatsinks gathers more than enough but only on one side but the real thing that makes Noctua so great is their patented bearing system - one of the best in class.

The fan material is Fibre-glass reinforced PBT.

Yep, same exact temps R7 1800x - mine sticks a bit lower in idle tho around 29C - 35C so an average of 37C in idle plus load using Arctic Silver 5 (pasted 7.4 years ago) with an absolute high of 54C - 57C on heavy load (gaming) - but certain applications, I have seen it reach but never go over 65C - 67C with 3D modeling apps and such.

Later this week I will post my temps with the Noctua NH-D15 when I upgrade this CPU to the R9 5950x.

Currently use the Phantom Spirit on my 3700x with NTH1 thermal paste and it works great, however, the compromise is the fans are a little louder than the noctua.

Phantom Spirit idles at 35 and hits 60-65 at load for me and cost me £34, it's a great cooler for not much money and keeps up with coolers that cost 2-3 times more.

louder fans are better for my situation i try to drown out the noise around me already, appreciate your input, Still havent decided what Im going to do yet I found out about the Dark ROCK PRO 5 and now im looking at that too because it looks really nice an clean but kinda pricey when i can get the PS

Phantom Spirit. You can buy 2 or 3 of them for the same amount you pay for a Noctura.
