Bluetooth
Hello.

I recently added a small HP keypad with programmable keys to my system. I added it to an Asus USB bluetooth receiver that my Xbox gamepad is connected to, and now it *seems* to me they are sometimes interfering with each other, especially with timeouts. (unless its my imagination)

My q's:
1. Would it help to buy another bluetooth USB adapter so they can each have their own?
2. Is one brand significantly better than another? If so, do you have personal preferences?

Thanks!

bt on pc is very poor

use the keyboard in usb, or something dedicated, or its own 2.4ghz dongle (not wifi or bt mode)

The HP keypad only has BT hookup. It's either that or nothing.

then get a usb or keyboard with a dedicated dongle

you can use the bt keyboard on phone, tablet or console, maybe smart tv

If you have two devices on at the same time connected to the same receiver, then yes, they will interfere with each other as the receiver has to go back and forth to refind each device and read the information being sent. Buying two will not help as they will both being going back and forth between devices, unless the device can be assigned to one receiver.
Those receivers are not very good for multiple device use. :badluck:

In case anyone with a similar quest reads this thread, here are my findings:

1. I bought another BT receiver and Win 10 would not allow them to both be active at the same time. The drivers for the second one would not load.

2. I bought a different brand for the second.
First: ASUS in 2021
Second: TP-Link in 2024
The TP-Link is much faster than the ASUS. Don't know if its the difference in quality, or newer technology.

3. Discovered another option I may try some day. Positive reviews.

Is this a laptop or something because if it is a desktop, why not just get a BT PCIe adapter switch?

Yes, its a desktop. If you mean a card that plugs into a PCIe slot, I don't have the room on my MB. My GPU is a 4070 Ti and needs the space on either side for the fans. Tried something like that a couple of years ago and the system started shutting down due to overheating.

And people wonder why I recommend X and Z rated MOBO's - well, good luck with/in the search.

Actually, I corrected my statement above. Not the MB, but the system would shut down due to the GPU fans being blocked and causing overheating. The GPU would cause the system to shut down.

Oic, well, do not allow that GPU to overheat as it is the most important (and highest priced) component on a system - if you look around and ask Google, I found some models people are swearing by which supports multiple devices and I saw this dual-adapter that featured both a BT dongle and WiFi antenna that seemed promising but idk personally so I cannot confirm anything would work; however, if you have access to a company such as Amazon, free returns are a blessing and something many people seemingly take for granted.

Just in case your in a similar situation;

In my case I also had a mini pcie slot on the opposite side of the gpu away from the fans that i could use but it was disabled by the Nvme drive as it was a shared slot.

Moving the Nvme drive to the alternative slot 2 location freed the pcie slot and everything was good.

I used the Asus AXE5400 pcie card which gave me 6E wifi connection and bluetooth all in one.
