While it’s true that top end NVidia GPUs beat AMD best offers often by a big margin their lower end GPUs (xx50, 60, 70) are usually slower than AMD products in the same price bracket.
At a 4K TV gamer that meaning my next upgrade will have to be Nvidia. Unless Intel can somehow get their stuff together.
DLSS is so much better than FSR, though.
Hopefully AMD will compete with FSR4 it actually hardware on the board like Nvidia which as given them the edge.
AMD just cant and wont compete with the highest tier line, because this isnt their preferred target group.
Beneath top tier(everything lower than a 4090/4080S), AMD is on par with Nvidia GPUs, when its about pure processing power.
Team red will always give you more bang for the buck, except if you want to use Raytracing or make use of upscaling features.
So if youre into that, DLSS is the way to go. The improvements since DLSS 1.0, which was meh, are unreal.
It is a gamechanger on quality presets to a point, that it even surpasses native resolution settings in some cases, where for example AA is poorly implemented. Given, youre using DLSS on at least 1440p, preferable on 4K. DLSS @1080p looks admittedly better than FSR @1080p, but still not worth it in my book. I would rather tweak ingame settings than playing that blurry mess.....
DLSS makes use of dedicated hardware though. Thats the reason why you wont hear the same praise for AMDs upscaling feature, which they call FSR and RSR. heck, even XESS looks better than FSR.
They are currently at version 3.1, and it still looks like ........, well it doesnt look good at all. It may work on 4K, but 1440p and 1080p is still a mess if you are as fastidious as I am.
Not to mention Frame Generation, which looks and works much better than AMDs version, Fluid Frames. But kudos to AMD. AFMF2 is some sort of gamechanger as well. At least, in most games and above 30 FPS.
Ive always preferred native resolution over any upscaling feature because playing on anything beneath ultra settings was not worth it to me. I mean, thats why I upgrade my GPU every darn generation. But seeing how the industry is coming up with more and more absurd price tags for their high end GPUs, makes you think about sustainability.
And if were talking sustainability, DLSS has gold value if you want to use your GPU for max settings for more than 1-2 years without much visual sacrifice.
I had a R9 290X, 5700XT, 6900XTXH and my last AMD GPU was a 7900XTX and enough is enough.
But that doesnt mean, that AMD isnt the perfect fit for other folks. Like already mentioned, best bang for the buck. Period.
And FSR and AFMF2 also add to sustainability. Sure, it doesnt look as good as Nvidias features, but it is still impressive. Especially at 4K.
edit:
AMD and Nvidia are both great on their own way. Im glad that they both exist and they push each other development-wise.
And there is also a third player now. Who knows what Intel is going to be capable of in a few years. So to answer your question, YES, YES INDEED, there are more than enough attractive alternatives to Nvidia.
It just depends on what you prefer.
edit II:
And I also prefer Adrenalin over Geforce Experience. Much more room for tweaking and more options for fine tuning
There were times where AMDs driver were a mess but these days are over big time.
Demonstrably false.
Demonstrate it then....
some people like me do not care about prices and only want the fastest for gaming, people with lower cards and lower cards in general do not concern me at all and i couldnt care less about them
You know how they say, don't drink and drive?
Well, this goes also for writing into a forum.
Don't drink and write.
Back when I was young, you would only talk if you had something to say.
Calling other brands and models crap just because you know jack about anything, makes you ignorant and you come of as a total douche.
And who the F asked you about your life story? Who gives a flying F about what you care about?
Some people.....
They should use age verification on the forums as well.
all i care about is having the highest FPS possible, i switched from a 7900XTX to a 4090 for that
there is nothing false here and it is a fact that 4090 is faster than everything crappy AMD has to offer, cry me a river poor one.
next thing you'll say is that intel is faster in gaming
Yeah, that’s a… misguided statement
