Broken Mouse. Why does my right click always fail first?
I am an fps player, I often keep the right button pressed down to aim. Am I holding it down too hard maybe? My right mouse button is always the thing I have problems with after a year. If you play first person shooters, how long does your mouse typically last? I always have to replace mine after a year. :iv_mk23:

what button do you use more?

mouse switches can be replaced, but takes desoldering tools and skills

I use Left click used to spam with semi-automatic weapons. I use Right click to hold it down for aiming. I have never repaired a mouse before, it seems like a waste to throw it away though.
Well, first thing is first, get replacement mouse feet for that thing cause the screws that hold the mouse frame on are located under those things and I found out it is best to keep mice in a drawer because dust can collect and bind-up/break the scroll wheel - the best protective spray (and dust dissolver) that won't harm plastics or rubber is called, Light Dry-Film Lubricant or Dry-film Lubricant depending on your region (green label).

ifixit has guides for many mice
most use the same buttons, micro mini switch, but they come in different flavors, some 90deg bend r/l, or straight pin
and different button pressures, 20-150g

these are cheap and work, but a bit heavy for most mice (just pop off the lever)

cherry and omron are good ones and will last longer
but when replacing only solder the c(common) and no(normally open) pins
nc (normally closed) is not used

only really worth replacing if its an expensive mouse, you like and want to keep going

Let me guess razer right?

for me somehow it's always the cord breaking..... and the "feets" dropping off *you know those little rubber pads glued on the bottom which makes they glide a bit more smooth over your mousepad than without.. they after a while come loose.... and than before long you tend to loose them somehow completely...

the feets coming loose is not so much as issue.. it feels a bit less smooth but you get used to it quickly feels only weird a few days.. but ocourse broken cord = rip mouse.

nah, to be fair I always buy ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 5 dollar mice, it's kinda my fault. But I don't wanna spend 40 bucks on a razer either cause I believe it could break after the same amount of time. Should I really buy a razer?

I buy logitech mouses (and not the cheap ones often 100+ euro)

still cords will from time to time break... like one every 2 years orso...

and they have these optical cords.. so it's not copper wire I could just solder and scrinkwrap together again...

ok no i changed my mind, I was skeptical to buy a 30-40 dollar razer, but I am not spending 100$ on a mouse

Most modern mouse are like that. They arent built to last a long time.

Ironically, the cheap 10$ logitech mouse that i bought almost 20years ago still work til this day.
