Major change in my PC Hardware
Hi all,
I have the following PC specs and I want to move from Intel Core to AMD Ryzen for the first time.
Please advise me accordingly:

** Current Setup:
- CPU: Intel Core i9 12900K, 32GB
- Motherboard: Asus Rog Strix Z-690-G
- CPU water cooling iCUE, H100i Elite (two Fans)
- TUF RTX 4090
- Power Supply Asus Thor 1500 W (Not ATX 3)
- Display at 4K
- NZXT big case

** Intended new Setup:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, 32GB
- Motherboard: Asus Rog Strix X870-E
- CPU water cooling LIAN LI Trinity (three fans)
- Same TUF RTX 4090 .... and then later on Q1 - 2025 .... RTX 5090
- Same Power Supply Asus Thor 1500 W (Not ATX 3)
- Same Display at 4K
- Same NZXT case

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

That's a really good example of wasting hardware and wasting money.

If the PC is for gaming mostly then the new 9800x3D is considerably faster. Even older 7800x3D is faster in gaming than the 9950x.
Also - why do you even want to upgrade? The 12900 is fantastic and it's one of the best CPU on the market. A fantastic balance between gaming and productivity performance.

He has no clue about PC hardware, seems to be bored + most importantly has obviously enough money.

@TIG
Seems great. Go for it.
I'd look for a 2000W PSU though. I'm sure you wanna go for the RTX 6090 and 7090 in a few years and yeah, so you're already ready for the next upgrade.

The only thing wrong in his setup is that its Intel and he will need a motherboard if he wants the latest Intel

Taking a pretty quick cursory glance at Gamer's Nexus's 285k review[gamersnexus.net], just to make sure the numbers I'm comparing are up to date, I'm not put under the impression that the 9950x performs significantly better than the 14900k in games.

The 14900k is $160 cheaper than the processor alone at the moment and more importantly you're sparing yourself both the hassle and the expense of a motherboard upgrade since it's still an L.G.A. 1700 part.

Raptor lake has its problems, but I doubt they are so severe as to merit the $560 premium in your intended upgrade path. Saving that much money gives you enough in the bank to buy another 14900k and have some money left over if necessary, and if it's not, then you can put that money towards buying at least 8 full priced games. Just make sure to upgrade the B.I.O.S. so you're on the latest microcode for safer power management and maybe call in Intel's extended warranty to deal with the oxidation if necessary.

The main point here about Intel i9 14900K and through many feedback reviews; the heat is the major issue that caused with some users blue screen crash. Yes, it was opinion to continue with Intel i9 14900K since my current MB is LGA 1700 which means no need to change MB. In the same time, Intel Ultra 9 is not a big jump. This was my intention to move to Ryzen 9 9950X.

that would be a complete waste of money pretty much all cpu from the 12900k and
up are at about the same exact performance level with all current GPU's throw
a overclock on the 12900k and call it a day

I don't see a need for any sort of upgrade, it's pretty powerful and able to keep up with all modern games that are either or both GPU and CPU intensive. Would it be faster than, say, a 9800X3D? Of course not, but it'd still be good for good or more than playable framerate for games now and in the foreseeable future.

I have a 5700X3D in my main rig (32GB RAM, RX 7900 XTX) and a 5900X in my 2nd rig (32GB RAM, RX 6900 XT) and I don't see a need to upgrade anything in my present present PCs, and platform for the matter.

Since my whole intention for this is to move from RTX 4090 to RTX 5090 in few months, how about the fact: i9 12900K + RTX 5090 = Bottleneck

The ryzen is about the same, maybe just a shade, (just a shade!!) faster. Total waste of time, money and effort but hey, if thats what floats your boat...
