Is baseboard heater grounded?
About to build computer tomorrow and I have some worry about static electricity....my room is carpet So I/m palnning on laying down cardboard to stand on...and building it on a wooden coffee table....I may install the PSU into the case and plug it into an extension cord down to a downstairs outlet that is currently shut off at the breaker (also will have the PSU turned off) so I can touch the case or psu regularly throughout the build (though I am unsure which, if any of the outlets im my house are grounded)...for extra security I would like to run an anti static wristband from my ankle to the base board heater throughout the building process....I figure that at least one of the two are certain to be grounded......but I dont think the alligator clip from the wristband can fit around the water pipe so if I clip to the radiation fins attached to the pipe, will that be a grounded connection ( if the baseboard heater is grounded of course)?? And Does ths sound like a good plan? Should I stand on a baking sheet instead of cardboard? lol

any screw on any outlet should be grounded

You don't need to worry that much.

- Avoid standing on carpet or anything which can create static charge. Cardboard would be fine, certain carpets, or bare floor (concrete / tiled, etc).
- If your power plug has a third ground cable, keep it pluged in but switched off from the wall. This depends on your country. If not, unplug it.
- If you have it use an anti-static wristband, if not, when you open the PC case touch a metal area on it to withdraw static charge from the body.
- The memory RAM sticks is the most affected by static, handle them from the edges, while still holding the metal case with the other hand.
- PSU is shielded from static charge and will most likely just draw it away by touching the metal on that too.

Just put on the antistatic wristband and clip it to your case... I also try to avoid wearing things like fleece that conduct static electricity easily.

Remember the appliance is grounded not the power, so, hook your grounding strap to the baseboard steel frame, check to make sure it is grounded 1st, or power outlet's little screw holding on the cover

as long as you are grounded to the case, and handle parts by non connector edges, you will be fine

you do not need to be earth grounded, just common between the components you are handling
