See above link.
1 - Leave it alone (is it a new PSU? If so, let it settle down)
2 - Secure the coil (glue)
3 - Limit the power you're using (cap the FPS by vsync to your monitor rate - nobody needs 9000 FPS on a 60 or 120 Hz monitor)
4 - Return it and get a replacement (but that is a lottery, and RMA may send out refurbished ones if you don't go to the vendor to get a new replacement)
5 - Get a better quality or higher rated one
Go with option 1 for a while. See if it settles down.
Get a replacement and be done with it.
How long has it been going on? It could just be settling in.
Inform your seller, return it.
Alternative: inform your seller, tell him you wait two weeks - sometimes it settles.
Why you asking me? I'm not the one with an issue there bub.
Merely stating that coil whine is a horrible thing that gets on my nerves and that I recommend just replacing it and not worrying about it.
If it's bad, replace it with the vendor and get a new one, don't RMA, they send out refurbished ones generally, always go to your vendor first.
If it's only been going on a day and isn't bad, see if it settles down.
This.. patience. I know new toys should be perfect but, but sometimes things need patience.
Don't forget, it probably came straight off the factory floor, into a cargo container, into a store room and onto a shelf, never used.
For example, I had a laptop battery, new, behaved irraticaly the first charge discharge, I give it 4 cycles, and it settled down into a regular pattern.
The reason for waiting is because it gives you more ammo to use against an argument (if any) with the vendor if they tell you to wait a while too. Always return with a long list of answers to any forseeable questions :) Makes the exchange go faster and easier :)
