Absurd RAM Usage?
Ok, I have had this new build for about a month now, and it stays around 11 - 12 GB of RAM usage. As you can tell, I am quite confused.

Programs Running at this moment:

Comodo IceDragon (Firefox based Browser) 1,100 MB
Steam 100 MB
Skype 100 MB

Ram usage: 12.4 GB out of 16 GB.
More details below.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Edit: Specs:
I7 4790K
r9 Fury Air cooled

Windows 8.1

16GB DDR4 RAM

Check what is using RAM in Task Manager.

Also, unless you are having issues with running out of RAM, it really isn't a problem. Unused RAM is wasted RAM.

Post your computer specs and what OS you're running. Also post a screenshot of what is showing you that you are using that amount of RAM.

I'll get on that. Might take a while.

Edit:
OK, I can't figure out how to upload anything but Steam overlay screenshots. so thats a bust, sorry. but if I go into Processes of Task Manager and sort my Memory, I get this:

IceDragon: 1,100 MB
Antimalware Service Executible: 108 MB
Skype 103 MB
Windows Explorer: 75 MB

And so goes the list, only getting lower in number. I have no idea what is using all this RAM, unless 8.1 is actually regestering that Comodo is using 14GB of RAM.

if I go to the users section of Task Manager shows that C (Me) is using 1,470 MB being 80%, I should have around 16,000 to use. If my math is right, My Ram usage should be 9 - 10%.

start -> run -> msconfig
startup tab, untick all startup items
service tab, untick all non ms items
reboot

https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/
install mbam
run mbam, let it update, and full scan
fix all problems
reboot in safe mode
run mbam, let it full scan
fix all problems
reboot

also check task scheduler, many newer forms of malware use it to update or reinstall themselves
start -> right click on computer -> manage
computer management -> system tools -> task scheduler -> task scheduler library
that list should be empty

CTRL+ALT+DEL -> Task Manager -> Performance (tab)

At the bottom, you will see a Open Resource Monitor, and from that you can check memory usage at a detailed level.

Also, under Control Panel > System > Advanced settings > Virtual Memory

Check that min/max is set to a fixed value, such as "2938" - This is 2.9GB, which is a calculation for optimal page file size (between 1-4GB) for 16GB system RAM.
