Max safe 24/7 overclock voltage for a I7 6700k
I upgraded my cpu to gain some peformance in fallout 4 ( I upgraded from a i7 2600k to a I7 6700k) and I am planning to overclock it to gain more peformace not just in fallout but in a other games as well. My question is what is the max safe voltage for a 24/7 overclock? My cooling is good enough to handle the higher frequency and voltages but I am concerned about what the max safe voltage is for the 6700k. If anyone is a skilled and experienced overclocker I would really appreciate the help. Also I have talked with other people who have conflicting ideas about what the voltage should be , one guy says this is the max voltage while the other says otherwise so I have not been given a clear answer so far.

you wont see much performance boost from a 2600k to a 6700k, honestly you would have seen more value for money investing in a better gpu.

I should have bought that first but I did not have the money for a GTX 980 TI so that will hopefully be this year
6700k is better than 2600k
may not be worth the upgrade, depending on how far you oc'd the 2600k

voltage depends on cpu binning (how good that cpu is) and cooling

I overclocked my I7 2600k to 4.5 Ghz and now with my I7 6700k I overclocked it to 4.6 Ghz , on the synthetic physics benchmarks (3d mark 2011 and 3d makr 2013) my physics scores for the 6700k was about 2000-mid 3000s points higher than my 2600k. Have not really tested any games yet
Like seriously! I know this is an old thread but that is just retarded! I switched from a i5 6600k @4.7ghz to a 6700k @ 4,6ghz and noticed a huge performance win in load times and overall performance so switching from and muchmuch older 2600k should obviously be a much bigger upgrade

Clock it as high as it'll cope with 1.35V, more than this is often a waste, giving an extra 1-200MHz for loads of extra heat.

Bear in mind that there's a fair bit of extra performance available to Skylakes from FSB overclocking and high performance (3GHz +) RAM.

125 x 36 may outperform a straightforward 100 x 45 overclock.
