Should I buy a laptop with an Nvidia GT 540m?
I found a great deal on a i5 laptop with a GT 540m and I recently sold my worn out core 2 gaming desktop that I cobbled together with a bunch of used parts in favor of a new gigabyte Brix. It has an AMD a8 5557m. I have not played any games on it yet but it does not seem like its much of a gaming device. The most intensive games I own is Killing Floor 2/ space engineers and that's what I would like to play. I'm not looking into playing anything newer unless it goes on sale for a very low price. Is that card ok? Would that laptop be a decent buy?

Erm, no, I doubt you can call that a gaming laptop either.

You should consider just building a mini sized budget desktop as it will be half the price of an equivalent gaming laptop.

It is a 1gb dedicated card. I would not be looking high rest/ fps faster than the refresh rate. Just enough to get my gaming fix. What would be a minimum mobile gpu for those games listed above?

Guys, he's not a hardcore gamer. He just wants to play some basic games. Look at the requirements for Killing Floor 2: it certainly doesn't require a GTX 950m (lol)

its ancient and even when it came out it was a poor computer

I wouldn't recommend that laptop either, but a 960m is overkill for what he wants.

i have an old laptop with that card and a 2.2 ghz I7. It will run basic games but you wont get hi fps or high graphics settings. It used to run arma 2 at 15-35 fps. Playable but not great.
Arma 3 was basically unplayable even at lowest settings so the tanks looked like they were from atari 2600. lol

Thats dissapointing. I used to own a laptop with amd integrated graphics and it would run arma 2 well on low but at high temps. I think it had Radeon hd 6620g or 6480g graphics with only 512mb shared ram.
