Is windows 7 "Outdated"?
Ok so put simply I've been using windows 7 since It came out. I cant stand win 8 / 8.1 or win 10.

But at the same time I'm just feeling like win 7 is on its way out.

Microsoft ended Windows 7 support a year ago. That not to say it can't be used, I'm using it on one of several PC's. The problem you will eventually run into is compatability issues as time goes on since hardware and software are designed with win 10 in mind. I happen to like 8.1 and it's very net friendly, one just needs a few dys to navigate it and it's a breeze. Windows 10 I downloaded on another system I own, and like is so far, but there are some small issues to address, 1 during install if you do not choose custom install Windows 10 by default will allow you to receive updates via another users computer and visa versa MS wants to use my metered bandwidth and computer to Serve updates to other users out on the net. I'm not too big on letting MS suck any of my data limits, nor do I want anyone elses computer to update mine except for Microsoft Servers. MS's idea to help speed up updates, no thank you. If you do or did a standard install/upgrade you can go into the settings to turn it off. Google it, it's a issue easy to find.

Extended support for Windows 7 ends January 14, 2020. Security holes will still be fixed until then.

As for your question, it is outdated in the sense that it cannot utilize DX12, and does not have some of the performance enhancements that 8/8.1/10 have, but it still has quite a bit of life left.
We aren't running into RAM limits on it (yet), and DX12 isn't a requirement in most games (yet).

So yes, it is on the way out, but no need to feel pressured to switch if you don't like newer the newer OSs
I hated win 8 and 8.1 (used the trial versions) but because win 7 is slated to end 2020 and win 10 is a free upgrade I tried the beta and then swapped everything over to 10 because gaming felt better and 10 isn't that much diff than 7 visually it was easy to get used to.
Its likely that Windows 11 will come out before Windows 7 support ends, so no it's not outdated. It just has slightly worse performance and no DX12.

WIN 7 is live and well, hell 98% of all corp use it. WIN 10 or WIN8 will never see the light of day in corp america. WIN 7 has support all day long

Where are you that the corporate environment uses Windows 7? Everywhere in my area still uses XP
Same in Australia.

97% of Enterprise clients demand Windows 7.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 32bit ..etc all my games work just fine on my system and only concern is "security" so having 3rd party firewall & antivirus software..to keep system clean & tidy :)

Was feeling the same as you. Microsoft did something at homebase about a month ago, which removed my WAT for Win7x64 on 2 machines. (Took them long enough.)

Rather than search for yet another crack, I just formatted and installed Win 8.1. On both of these gaming machines, I haven't run into any problems and am happy with the change.

I installed Classic Shell, which simply replaces Win 8's Start Screen with the normal Win 7 Start Menu, and with that, there is no looking back for me.

Give it a shot.
I personaly would buy Win10 till its cheap. I have win10 64bit pro. Later it will cost alot.
DX12, Mantle all that stuff will REALLY boost your GPU and Performance.
All good things must come to an end so as nice as windows 7 is, we all still have to move on if we wish to play future PC titles.

It's actually somewhat likely that "Windows 11" will never happen. Based on what the PR/support materials and product managers are saying, the plan is to get everybody running Windows 10 and then ship updates to that indefinitely. They've already pushed a huge update that could have credibly been called "Windows 10 SP1" or maybe even "Windows 10.1", but they just refer to it as "the November update".

This would be great if M$ could make this happen. Not enough time between 7, 8, and 10 had passed. I imagine they'd be concerned about how to make money if they don't release a new OS.

Yearly renewal fee doesn't seem too ridiculous. $20 for Home/$30 for Pro. Although, in 2-3 years, perhaps not even gamers will need to run Win at all. Time will tell.

Windows 10 is said to be the last OS Microsoft releases. So there will be no Windows 11.

DX12

What actually supports DX12 right now? I didn't know there was actually a game already released that supports DX12
