The internet is so confusing help, its about skylake and ram voltage!
So I have a new i5 6600 (non k) and my asus h110m plus d3 is arriving soon. I am going to use 8gb ddr3 ram at 1333mhz and 1.5v. However i have found that although the motherboard is fine with ddr3 ram you are supposed to use ddr4 or ddr3l ram due to the voltage. Apparenty this is as too high a voltage whill fry part of the CPU over time. Is it okay for me to use the ddr3 ram just lower it to 1.35v or 1.2v in the bios?????

That memory will be just fine at 1.5V if this is your motherboard.

The problem is will it fry the cpu as the cpu is meant for ddr4 12.v or ddr3l 1.35v, will it cause cpu damage or not?
What memory make and model are you buying?
It's the memory i have already its transcend 1333mhz 240pin DIMM 8gb unbuffered ddr3, it's compatible with the motherboard i just need to know if it will be fine for me to use it with skylake processer if i lower the voltage in the bios.
If the motherboard doesn't recognize the RAM as incompatible and the CPU doesn't puke when you boot up, then you're probably fine if you can figure out what RAM settings will work at those lower voltages.
This is a gambling... Traditional Russian Roulette. Do not do it.Sell the old one and buy new Ddr4.In skylake voltage control go from cpu.
Would not bother buying a Skylake board that supports DDR3; the CPU itself support DDR3 or 4; but the boards usually will only support one or the other; not both types.

I would just sell your old stuff and get a Z170 Board + DDR4
I know i should i really dont have the time or the budget i just need to know if it is possible
Generally no, not if the RAM was designed to run at 1.5, 1.55 or 1.65
That is what it was designed for. Running it lower will just cause it to run un-stable.
If you sell it and buy Ddr4 you have to add 20-30$
i just want to know if it wont damage my cpu anymore if i lower it to the correct compatible skylake voltage i can get it stable
It's doubtful your PC would work if you lower the ram voltage. You need a rethink.

I guess the OP has read this article, an interesting read.

It worked with my current motherboard and processor
I really dont have the budget, im going to try use a lowered voltage ddr3 and in a couple of weeks get ddr3l when i have the money
Try running memtest with the lowered voltage, if it passes it should be ok.
