Anyone own the ASUS ROG G751JT-WH71(WX)? Looking for personal experience.
I am looking to buy the gaming laptop listed above. I need a new PC for gaming and also learning programming. I am also in need of a new laptop. So I am looking at this as both a desktop replacement and a laptop. I have never owned a gaming laptop or tried to use a laptop for gaming before and it has been just over 10 years since I have bought a laptop at all. The specs on this one are as follows:

Intel i7 4720HQ 2.6GHz processor
Windows 10
Intel HM87 Express Chipset
16GB DDR3L Mhz SDRAM (expandable up to 32GB)
17.3" IPS FHD 1920x1080 matte finish screen with G-Sync support
NVIDIA GeForce GTX970M with 3GB GDDR5
1TB 7200RPM HDD and an empty second drive bay
DVD RW
802.11AC integrated wireless NIC as well as 10/100/1000
1 microphone in
2 headphone out (SPDIF)
1 vga port/mini D-sub 15 pin
4x UB 3.0 ports
1 RJ45
1 HDMI
1 thunderbolt
1 sd card reader
8 cell 6000mAh battery

The GTX970M 3GB graphics card is the main reason I am looking at this one instead of less expensive versions that only have 960M or 965M cards and instead of a slightly more expensive version that has a higher generation i7 cpu in it but only has a 965M. I already have a 200GB samsung EVO SSD to pop into the extra drive bay to load the OS from and keep whichever couple of games I am playing most at a given time.

My main concerns are how long I can play at a go without hitting cooling issues or causing excessive wear and tear on the laptop. I want to be able to play top titles at 1080p and high settings with 40-60fps. I am looking for responses from people that own this specific laptop and can tell me how it plays games like Witcher 3, Dying Light, Fallout 4, and so on.

This laptop looks really great to me and if it can handle titles like Witcher 3 continously without hitting major heat issues then I am good. I will also at time be plugging in an external monitor to use it as a real desktop replacement. Thanks in advance for any responses or insight. This is a major purchase for me and that is why I am seeking advice here rather than just the reviews I have read and the specs.

Get Rog with 980... In that range of money you can buy new gaming series laptops from Acer at the moment I forget the series but the specs are better, quality for me is not as Asus, Asus is better but use ddr3 and Haswell. In acer Ddr4, skylake, original os 1tb hdd and ssd for os in ...this version of Asus is old so if you want more performance get acer
Witcher 3 is heavy game, why you don't buy a desktop?for that money you can buy really high end machine

An Acer would be lower quality and wouldn't have the cooling abilities of an asus ROG though.

Hey! I just bought this laptop today, infact, a few mins ago. Looking forward to it, bought it for 1342 usd including shipping, cant wait!
Check out this website, it helped me alot and it will probably answer some of your questions regarding games.

It lists all the fps in in alot of games, and a comparison too, good stuff. Goodluck!

Sweet! This model looks like a lot of bang for the buck and high quality. I'll check out the website it will likely be another month or so before I buy, so I would appreciate it if you would post your personal experience with the machine. How well it performs in games and especially how long it can handle heavy gaming use in a sitting. And how well it works as a desktop replacement.

For reference, the 970M is roughly around the level of the 580 and 670 (desktop versions). The 980M is a rather large performance jump up and would get you into 770/960 territory, at least according to PassMark's G3D Mark benchmark: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+970M&id=2981

If you want to play something like Witcher 3 or Fallout 4, going for the 980M would probably be a worthwhile idea. It'll cost more, but you're already spending relatively big. It'll get fairly hot (and noisy) in any event, but that's just the nature of laptop gaming. A quality cooling pad will help. That aside, I think it's a neat machine.

Yeah, absolutely. And also the cooling system is beast, in no reviews ever have I heard this laptop getting hot and the noise is pretty quiet aswell, went to have a look at it the other day at a local dealer, it just made me want to have it more, the additional ssd slot makes this a long-term laptop. Good luck again!

Got this laptop, 3 days ago, pretty effin amazing, I dont I think could have gone for a better choice, the keyboard and the touch pad are the best I have personally seen, and oh the 970, been playing gta V on ultra and also it DOES come with G-sync, long gone are the tearing and gaming problems! I highly recommend it! Only thing is that it might collect some finger prints but a simple tissue wipe does the job.

The 880M is around the desktop 770 region dude, the 970M is slightly faster than the Gtx 770 as it is around 15-20% better than the 880M. The Gtx 980M, on the other hand, is around the Gtx 780 region.
