I couldn't get Xbox controller working on linux. Didn't work for me.
PS5 controller (to be honest: a cheap replacement from Action) works perfect. Both on cable and on bluetooth.

im more of cable person myself i think wireless is a bit irritating going in and out of connecting all the the time but that can also just be a bluetooth problem

also do you have any experience with ryzen controller on linux ?

I haven't had problems using x-input on Linux myself, at least not on Ubuntu or Kubuntu, but I have seen reports to the contrary mentioned on some other distros. such as Pop O.S. I wouldn't know what the problem is in that regard. One x-input controller should be the same as any other with regards to compatibility though.

The controller i bought has usb-c connection. You can use it with cable if you want. I sit close to the computer when gaming and never had any bluetooth disconnection. Tried on Manjaro and Ubuntu.

I do have Ryzen processor (3400G) and Radeon GPU (6600 XT).
I don't use any Ryzen controller software. I don't see any reason to use it (overclocking?).

My son has Xbox One controller with dongle. It just did not work on Ubuntu (22.04). The dongle didn't wake up. Looking on google i see i'm nor the only one with this problem. I didn't spend much time investigating, so I don't want to say it will not work at all. Knowing Microsoft, I'm not surprised they are not able to implement any standard protocol 🤔 I did not try it with cable.

PS5 controller worked out of the box, both on cable and Bluetooth.

Edit: I'm talking about the controller described in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXaI3zwHRok ) It's available for little money in many EU countries. Comparing with Xbox One of my son, there's no significant difference in quality, but it just works.

I've used the SN30 Pro the most with my linux laptop. It works fine, though the bluetooth connection occasionally drops if I'm also using earbuds.

I prefer USB-C tethered anyway, so it's no big deal.

Xbox controllers are trash.
