[Gamers Nexus] "We Cannot Comfortably Recommend Intel CPUs"
Another outlet comes out with a bold statement regarding the situation regarding Intel's CPU woes. Gamers Nexus states that until there's some transparency from Intel, they can not recommend intel CPUs.

Furthermore, statements are made that they've received tips (take these for what they're worth, mind you) that there could be oxidation occurring internally.

Worse, with AMD's Zen 5 CPUs releasing in a week, this raises questions of how, exactly, they benchmark them against them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTeubeCIwRw

If Intel knows what's going on, I hope they come forward and do the right thing; disclose it, reimburse those affected, and we can move on (trust will be broken, but less broken and able to be mended sooner if they do this). If they know what's going on, and don't come forward, I hope pressure like this continues, because I don't want an Intel that I don't consider viable, because an AMD only market would be awful. If Intel genuinely doesn't know what's going on, then I hope they figure it out, and soon.

Update: Intel has released a statement.

https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/July-2024-Update-on-Instability-Reports-on-Intel-Core-13th-and/m-p/1617113

They are claiming "elevated operating voltage" is causing "instability" in some Raptor Lake desktop processors.

"Intel is committed to making this right with our customers, and we continue asking any customers currently experiencing instability issues on their Intel Core 13th/14th Gen desktop processors reach out to Intel Customer Support for further assistance."

That part is a good thing. Hopefully these issues get fixed, once and for all, and without performance/advertised operating specifications being negatively affected.

Update II: Gamers Nexus has a follow up to things/to Intel's statement.

I try to do as little bypasses as possible for the core of my system... because I want it to be stable...

and if it doesn't work I don't want someone to be like "oh it's because you did _______"

so no, I did everything right and the people setting the standards are the ones who have failed here.
There's nothing unstable about it, it's almost the same exact OS.
that comment was referring to your suggestion to "bypass Windows 11's requirements".

other than refusing to register my computer with MS so they can do shady tracking ♥♥♥♥ I'm not going to go and bypass things to run windows... I want my OS to be legit as possible. I'm not taking flack for nonsense that ain't my fault.

:steamfacepalm: It amounts to literally turning off the TPM requirement which only gave the boot to CPUs older than Coffee Lake and Zen+ because older architectures lack support for TPM version 2.0, there's nothing about running an older CPU that makes running the OS problematic, Microsoft simply chose to enforce TPM 2.0 for non-essential features.

And it's not even enforced with the IoT LTSC version, the requirements were lowered, and there's less of the unnecessary junk since it's packaged for enterprises.

So the argument that you were "forced" to upgrade is ridiculous, you made that choice because you didn't want to learn how to do something, whether that be using the Rufus bypass for 11, just installing 10 as it's still available, or using Linux, all of which never required you to change your hardware.

we need intel to survive, and nvidia in their small cpu/arm part, to keep cpu prices competitive

same with intel making gpus, something is better than nothing for the lower end gpus to help keep their prices low

I mostly feel the same, but they definitely need to adjust their business practices.

I'm interested in how well they improve their gpu's they just started making. I just want them to get a better footprint for power consumption...most computers that are used for non gaming are Intel, and then amd and Intel hold a similar market share amongst gamers.

if I'm going to bypass this and that I might as well have just bought a grey-market copy of win10 for $20 off "joes-computer-stuff".

why should I be punished for trying to be as legit as possible? that seems like some backwards logic to me.

It's literally free to install and use, Microsoft provides the ISOs on their own website, and it doesn't require a license to use. If you paid retail price for Windows 10/11, you played yourself.

AMD people should remember that the moment AMD gained popularity they raised the prices.
They are not your friends, much like Intel isn't your friend either.

But seeing how this only affects the higher end CPU line and I always go with the i5 these days I'm just going to wait for 15:Gen on my next purchase. I'm on 12 Gen right now and my CPU is doing perfectly fine without any problems.

It's literally right here, that was the free license upgrade that ended, you have no clue.

Windows 10 has always been free to use without any licensing, whether it's "legit" or not is irrelevant, Microsoft intentionally made it so it wasn't required and merely locked desktop and taskbar customization behind the license, which is easy to bypass with registry edits and/or replacement software like Wallpaper Engine which is already better for personalization regardless.

All I can say is that paying full retail price for Windows when it's actually been free to use the whole time is stupid. I recall telling you at least once that it was free before when you were whining in your rant thread about Valve announcing that Windows 7 wouldn't be supported anymore. Definitely wasn't the only person that told you that, you just chose not to remember that.

Again, it was the free license upgrade that ended, you don't need a license to use the OS. Period. You wasted, what, 120 bucks on being able to change the desktop appearance?

there's no upgrade path lool... it was an exploit and it ended... MS cut it off to increase sales of win11.

and I was not going to compromise my primary PC with this spyware... I chose to buy a whole new gaming rig... and wow what a disappointment modern hardware is... cept I gotta admit the SSD is kinda neat, but I don't see it lasting like my WD caviar.

like I was spektical about the whole sata SSD thing, but ya putting it on the PCI lane def made it go... guess they don't actually expect anyone to use SLI anymore XD

Once again, you outdo yourself in exposing how little you actually know about any of what you whine about.

Microsoft offered free upgrades to the next edition of Windows without requiring a new license for years, and they cut that service off because yes, they want money. But Windows 10 doesn't require a license to use, they just don't advertise it because then nobody would pay for it. Neither of those were exploits, it was Microsoft's own decision to do those things. Nor does it affect security in any way.

And multi-GPU died years ago. SLI was replaced with NVLink until NVIDIA later dropped driver support so there's basically no reason to run multi-GPU setups outside of specific appilcations that can actually benefit from it. AMD hasn't fully supported CrossFire since Polaris and Vega GPUs.

what are you talking about? all windows products require a license to use... I'm not pirating my OS...

the offers you're deceptively describing no longer exist.

It is not possible to use Windows 10 without a license to use. All non-GNU OS must have license to use.
