other than refusing to register my computer with MS so they can do shady tracking ♥♥♥♥ I'm not going to go and bypass things to run windows... I want my OS to be legit as possible. I'm not taking flack for nonsense that ain't my fault.
And it's not even enforced with the IoT LTSC version, the requirements were lowered, and there's less of the unnecessary junk since it's packaged for enterprises.
So the argument that you were "forced" to upgrade is ridiculous, you made that choice because you didn't want to learn how to do something, whether that be using the Rufus bypass for 11, just installing 10 as it's still available, or using Linux, all of which never required you to change your hardware.
I mostly feel the same, but they definitely need to adjust their business practices.
I'm interested in how well they improve their gpu's they just started making. I just want them to get a better footprint for power consumption...most computers that are used for non gaming are Intel, and then amd and Intel hold a similar market share amongst gamers.
why should I be punished for trying to be as legit as possible? that seems like some backwards logic to me.
and no they don't, the eliminated that like last year.
They are not your friends, much like Intel isn't your friend either.
But seeing how this only affects the higher end CPU line and I always go with the i5 these days I'm just going to wait for 15:Gen on my next purchase. I'm on 12 Gen right now and my CPU is doing perfectly fine without any problems.
It's literally right here, that was the free license upgrade that ended, you have no clue.
Windows 10 has always been free to use without any licensing, whether it's "legit" or not is irrelevant, Microsoft intentionally made it so it wasn't required and merely locked desktop and taskbar customization behind the license, which is easy to bypass with registry edits and/or replacement software like Wallpaper Engine which is already better for personalization regardless.
All I can say is that paying full retail price for Windows when it's actually been free to use the whole time is stupid. I recall telling you at least once that it was free before when you were whining in your rant thread about Valve announcing that Windows 7 wouldn't be supported anymore. Definitely wasn't the only person that told you that, you just chose not to remember that.
and I was not going to compromise my primary PC with this spyware... I chose to buy a whole new gaming rig... and wow what a disappointment modern hardware is... cept I gotta admit the SSD is kinda neat, but I don't see it lasting like my WD caviar.
like I was spektical about the whole sata SSD thing, but ya putting it on the PCI lane def made it go... guess they don't actually expect anyone to use SLI anymore XD
Microsoft offered free upgrades to the next edition of Windows without requiring a new license for years, and they cut that service off because yes, they want money. But Windows 10 doesn't require a license to use, they just don't advertise it because then nobody would pay for it. Neither of those were exploits, it was Microsoft's own decision to do those things. Nor does it affect security in any way.
And multi-GPU died years ago. SLI was replaced with NVLink until NVIDIA later dropped driver support so there's basically no reason to run multi-GPU setups outside of specific appilcations that can actually benefit from it. AMD hasn't fully supported CrossFire since Polaris and Vega GPUs.
the offers you're deceptively describing no longer exist.
