Should I change of OS :aunope:
currently on W10, thinking of going on W11 using "cheats" to debloat it on instal, or going full crazy for Atlas, Chimera, custom Win OS...
I'm playing on 4k 120hz
4090, i912900K
But I'm starting to game less to do editing and AI graphisme.
My feed back is that Win take to much ressources in the background and I don't have full control on my PC.
Thanks in advance for your advices :Gifting:

My first recommendation would be to try it.

A lot of people ask if they should, and my first question back would be to ask why not? Testimonials from others have their place, but you should be trying it for yourself.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the "loss of control" is merely a general trend Windows has been sliding into. Windows 10 isn't much better in that regard. So if you're fine with Windows 10, you'll likely be fine with Windows 11.

Ads? Yeah... Windows 10 has those too.

There's definite pain points (using a local account instead of a Microsoft account on OS installation, the right click context menu changes, etc.), but most or even all, depending on what bothers you, still have workarounds.

On an intel 12th+ generation platform, I'd have been using Windows 11 from the start. Apparently, the scheduler in Windows 11 is better for the hybrid architecture of those CPUs.

That said, Windows 10 is supported for just over another year, so you have until then to decide. After that, sticking with Windows 10 wouldn't be recommended.

Thank you for your advices. I think you are right, I should test, it's still a wast of time but you gave me a good point I didn't know about the 12th intel gen. So I guess getting ride of W11 bloats and spyware should solve my issue :)
Yeah, you'll definitely have to take steps to fight with it after installation to try and regain some semblance of control back, but that's the case whether it's Windows 10 or 11.
do NOT install custom windows ISOs. you won't notice much of a difference in performance, and many of them just remove a lot of security measures for the sake of "debloating." just grab an iot ltsc ISO and debloat that yourself, it doesn't take too long to do

I have been running Windows 11 since beta, these days it works fine, when installed for the first time just remove all bloatware apps and services, takes literally 5 minutes. not had a bluescreen for over 3 years now so seems stable.

majority of games do work fine, i basically use windows as a loader thats it, i don't sit there staring at it, gaming and youtube and plex thats all i run these days. disabled gamebar and use xbox button remapper to remap the share button on my controller for steam recording.

Depending on what programs you use, might be better off daily driving Linux where you actually have control over the operating system. Ideally something like Arch Linux or other distros based on it like EndeavourOS, Manjaro, Garuda, or CachyOS Linux. If there are games and applications you absolutely can't drop that won't run on Linux, you can always dual boot Linux and Windows 11.

No amount of tweaking will completely fix what's wrong with Windows because it's rotten to the core, needs to the thrown out and rebuilt from scratch by someone that actually gives a crap about the end user.

Windows 10 really isn't any better than 11, they're essentially the same operating system, but 11 has an updated task scheduler that was made specifically for Alder Lake and other hybrid Intel processors. Reason why 10 is suddenly being killed off is all about Microsoft gradually applying more force and control over systems with more and more telemetry (spyware) junk.
