A game i like to play doesn't boot anymore on a new computer
I resorted to this because i had to..

After upgrading with a 8th gen Intel Core i7-3770K with 8 cores and a EVGA GF GTX 1660 Ti XC Ultra Gaming GPU, i cannot boot a game i want to play anymore, i have no idea why it isn't using the Integrated Graphics as a alternative within the 3770K, the game is compatible with DX12 and older versions too btw

EDIT: changed a few things

64 bit, has the x84 program files, also BR is 32bit, not 64
...

I think you mean x86. That is for 32-bit application (which I think is what you're intending to say). I don't recall if the directory was present on both versions of Windows 7 or not so would be worth just double checking.

  1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
  2. If the Control Panel is in a category view, then click System And Maintenance. On the next screen, click System. If the Control Panel is in Classic View, then double-click System.
  3. Look for 32-bit Operating System or 64-bit Operating System next to System Type.

This will tell you for sure if your installation is 32bit or 64bit.

While the BR executable may be 32bit; they list both a 64bit CPU and 64bit OS as requisite.

Oprindeligt skrevet af System Requirements:
MINIMUM:
OS *: Windows 7 SP1 - Windows 10 (x64)
Processor: 2.4 GHz Dual-Core 64-bit CPU
Memory: 4 GB RAM
...

x86 = 32bit
x86_64 = 64bit
x64 = 64bit

Lastly, given your last reply I'd think your issue is more likely the GPU drive issue you've noted. If they are trying to use DX12 on Windows 7 it's likely going to be a bad time.

Which driver package did you try to install?

"Version: 441.08 WHQL" I think was where Win7 support ended

Nvidia Game Ready Driver 441.08 WHQL[www.nvidia.com]

You may want to also try to reinstall directx 11 and then reinstall the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer[www.microsoft.com] which should redo the DX side-by-side.

If you aren't on SP1 use the standalone installer Platform Update for Windows 7[www.microsoft.com] which includes the dx11.1 package built-in.

The system not using the correct driver and the missing directX is very likely what your issue is. So at least you are on the right track to figure it out.

What is the name of the game you can't play?

Also, click 'Help' in the top left of the client --> "System Information"
...then copy and paste all of that information here so that it becomes easier to help you.
I can't quite make sense of your CPU as it is, unless you meant the "i7-8770K" instead.
The i7-3770K doesn't have 8 cores unfortunately, but it does have 8 threads.

No such thing as an i7-8770K. He's probably talking about the actual i7-8700K

It looks like a lot of information about your graphics card is missing. Have you tried going to Nvidia's website to download and install the latest graphics drivers for your GTX 1660 Ti?
I would try doing that first.

If it still doesn't start after that, you might want to check that your DirectX is working properly.
Try searching for dxdiag on your start menu.
Or follow the instructions here for Windows 7: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022556/graphics.html

Another strange thing about your system information is the current DirectX driver points to vga.dll which is a VGA 16 Colour Display Driver. Your graphics card should not be using a VGA display driver because it doesn't even have a VGA port. It should be either HDMI, DVI or DisplayPort that you have hooked up to your monitor.

Were you using a VGA cable for display in the past, forgot to plug your display into the graphics card at the back of the PC, or is it possible that you have some old display driver installed from the past that's now preventing your graphics card from using the proper Nvidia drivers?

I can only reiterate that you may want to clean up your display drivers and do a clean install your Nvidia drivers because your graphics card information doesn't add up.

---

Another thing to note is that the games you've mentioned require at minimum Service Pack 1 for Windows 7, which is not a supported operating system anymore. So we can't say for sure if this is a display driver problem or if your OS is simply too unsupported to run these games.

Regardless, DirectX is an OS thing, so you should make sure that Windows 7 is updated to the latest update it had before Microsoft stopped supporting it. Or consider upgrading to Windows 10.

only 5 importants and 3 optional updates refuse to download, but other then that it's updated

i'm using a DVI-D Single port connected to the GPU, not VGA, never had used VGA, the motherboard has a i believe VGA port however

In that case, if you think that narrowing the problem down to the graphics card driver is the only remaining potential cause, you could try using a program like this to maybe help get rid of that vga.dll driver and then substitute it for an Nvidia driver instead like it should be:
https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download

If you search for and open the Device Manager you might also find any unresolved problems with drivers on your computer. You can search for it in the start menu. Your installed Nvidia driver should be found under "Display Adapters" there.

Other than that, I don't have any more computer tips to give about your problem, unfortunately. At least you shouldn't have any issues running Windows 10 if you'll consider it in the future.

Good luck.

cool story op.

not a single person but you has tried beamng in 2024 on a 3770k.
guaranteed it needs instruction sets not on that cpu.
and your ram isn't good enough.

and if you want to use onboard (thats super terrible on that model)
you have to change the adapter in nvidia settings.
it wont automatically do it.

whats toxic about informing you that you can't do what you are asking and how to use your onboard?
jesus...

your cpu does not meet minimums.
