"Selected file is not a proper BIOS!" Help!
I'm experiencing issues with my 14th-generation Intel processor, I9 14900k.
My motherboard needs to be updated to prevent processor damage.
I attempted to update the BIOS for four hours yesterday by following the instructions after downloading the file and renaming it using Renamer, but it didn't work.
I also tried updating to a few older BIOS drivers (after I tried with a new one),
I tried to go through the very new one step by step because that worked for some people.

These processor issues are impacting my gaming because 80% of them are crashing, and some larger games are giving me blue and black freeze screens when I start them, forcing me to restart my PC manually.

Asus released an update to address the issue until Intel releases a fix in mid-August,
but I still need to update the BIOS after that.
You can view the video of my failed attempt here: .
Thank you so much for your help.
I'm eager to hear your advice and suggestions!

Make sure you downloaded the proper BIOS for your board.

Make sure the file was properly downloaded.

Make sure your USB drive is not deffective.

I tried both Flesh and memo card (formatted to a Fat 32), and It didn't work.

This did it!
Thank you, my friend, and God bless you!!!
I may have downloaded the wrong bios, as I have never done this in my long PC history.
I am deeply grateful for your help, my brother!

you dont need to rename anything when updating bios

just download the bios update file
unzip it to the root of a drive, or usb stick
boot to bios

select update option, fine the drive or usb stick the bios update is unzipped to and select the update and away you go

wait 10+ minutes if it appears to stop, do not unplug or reboot or anything until it finishes on its own

Some BIOS manufacturers do. Asus was one of them. They ship a rename tool with their BIOS which you have to use to use to make EZ Flash recognize it.

If you know the BIOS name you can rename it yourself also.

I am clueless as to why they do it like this, it is probably just to do telemetry and see how many people are installing their BIOS updates.

The alternative method is installing the update through Armory Crate, which does not require this rename.

Also, always double check whether the motherboard cares if the file is decompressed or not.

Some bios will accept a .zip or .7z, some only accept the .bin.
