We are talking about 9900s. And I was talking about the RAM, not the GPU.
I'd suppose if you got a motherboard with U.S.B. B.I.O.S. flashback it should be fine 'cause motherboard manufacturers will likely add support for the new processors in the B.I.O.S.
Plus all AM5 motherboards are supposed to have some form of U.S.B. B.I.O.S. flashback[arstechnica.com], although I don't promise that is actually the case.
ah my bad
Ryzen 9000 can use B650 motherboards. Most of them should be getting the firmware updates for it, if they have not already.
Your current rig is not that terrible and will still play pretty much anything meanwhile.
These are just the X versions. There's no 3d vcache on these. We may not see 3d vcache versions fo the new chips for months.
And theres no reason to even have that seriously.
Of course they are slower then 7800X3D since Threadrippers are not gaming CPUs.
Neither are 9900s. My point was that 7800X3D is really good already.
You could expect 9800X to be about same as 7800X3D, that`s why it`s probably better to wait half a year for 9800X3D.
Also 9800X would still be more of a gaming CPU then Threadrippers.
Only for lame realengine type of players tbh. And they wont necessarily be better than 7800X3D, thats what I was saying. And there actually is a gaming threadripper with 3D.
I personally would probably wait to see the performance difference and how they will affect the pricing of 7800x3D.
On the other hand it’s hard to put a monetary value on skipping summer gaming. 7800x3D is plenty fast and especially for single player games that are usually GPU limited anyway.
