7800x3d or wait?
so iam actually on a 9700kf with a 2080TI 16gb ddr4 3200 1tb m.2 ssd

iam thinking to build a new system with a:

Amd Ryzen 7800x3d
SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 7900 XT PULSE 20GB
32Gb Kingston FURY DIMM 32 GB DDR5-6000
ASUS Asus ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI, Mainboard
Thermaltake TH280 280mm AIO
be quiet straight power 850w power supply

OR...

should i wait untill the 9900x comes out? with the new motherboards?
or even wait for the 9800x3d?

what would you do in my situation?
so far games i have are actually playable. could be here and there more fps sometimes.
but in games wich comes out like stalker 2 or even gta 6 iam definatly need a new system.

7800x3d will not bottleneck a 7900xt lol wtf

We are talking about 9900s. And I was talking about the RAM, not the GPU.

I'd wait. 9700x might actually close the gap a little more than the already close 9900x and it'll likely be cheaper than the 7800x3D. Also a 9700x has has a lower T.D.P. than a 7700x or a 7800x3D: Only 65 watts. I bet you could either overclock it to be faster or get away with a cheaper air cooler and achieve similar results depending on personal preference.

isnt it that the 9xxx series need the new x870 motherboards?
or iam wrong? will a b650 motherboard fit with a 9800x3d for example?

I'd suppose if you got a motherboard with U.S.B. B.I.O.S. flashback it should be fine 'cause motherboard manufacturers will likely add support for the new processors in the B.I.O.S.

Plus all AM5 motherboards are supposed to have some form of U.S.B. B.I.O.S. flashback[arstechnica.com], although I don't promise that is actually the case.

but since we're literally talking about one day for the lower chips and one week for the larger ones I don't see why you you feel uncertain.

Ryzen 9000 can use B650 motherboards. Most of them should be getting the firmware updates for it, if they have not already.

I would wait a little, 9800X3D is not that far away and AMD 8000 series GPUs are slated to launch this fall.
Your current rig is not that terrible and will still play pretty much anything meanwhile.
Realigo Actual 6 AGO 2024 a las 8:14 p. m.
Wait we are talking about the X versions of the new chips.

These are just the X versions. There's no 3d vcache on these. We may not see 3d vcache versions fo the new chips for months.

And theres no reason to even have that seriously.

I got thread rippers under water that run slower than a 7800X3D.

Of course they are slower then 7800X3D since Threadrippers are not gaming CPUs.

Neither are 9900s. My point was that 7800X3D is really good already.

You could expect 9800X to be about same as 7800X3D, that`s why it`s probably better to wait half a year for 9800X3D.
Also 9800X would still be more of a gaming CPU then Threadrippers.

Only for lame realengine type of players tbh. And they wont necessarily be better than 7800X3D, thats what I was saying. And there actually is a gaming threadripper with 3D.

Isn’t the 9800x3D supposed to come out in December soon after on 3D variants?

I personally would probably wait to see the performance difference and how they will affect the pricing of 7800x3D.

On the other hand it’s hard to put a monetary value on skipping summer gaming. 7800x3D is plenty fast and especially for single player games that are usually GPU limited anyway.

7800X3D is pretty sick. Nothing says higher series will be faster with your system.

9600X is supposed to be better then 7950X
At gaming probably as it’s mostly about single core performance. There won’t be much difference between 9600x and few times more expensive 9950x either but there might be a noticeable difference between 9800x3D
